In Europe, Al Qaeda has suceeded in terror attacks in Spain, and the UK (not to discount numerous others other attacks elsewhere). What European nation is next?

occupation armies in Iraq are the most likely target.

US, UK

Italy, Poland or Netherlands

Look toward important Christian landmarks or places of historical significance as being the highest priority targets.

If they want something big, they'll hit Rome.

Poland's pretty safe. No large muslim populations for the terrorists to hide among. Netherlands is a possibility, but I think maybe it's become a harder target since Theo Van Gogh.

If nothing happens before 2006, it's probably going to be Germany. Al Qaeda is going to go for the World Cup; I've seen a video of a soccer ball bomb they made. While I doubt that's how they'll do it, it clearly shows their intent.

Just because we're not in Iraq doesn't mean that Osama and co don't hate us. Iraq is certainly the bigger issue, but it's not the only one.

Possibly Italy or Denmark, they both have supported Bush's war in Iraq. No doubt Al-Qaeda would therefore see them as targets.

Not France. They tend to be pancies and their president would rather give the terrorists bombs then risk his life defying them.

Poland is a tight ally with the US though.

I think whomever presents the easiest target will fall victim. It doesnt seem like the terrorists are worried about making new enemies, or strengthening the allies resolve. Bombing our friends in London only served to strengthen the people of London's resolve AGAINST the terrorists. I didnt hear anyone saying they should bail out on the US so they arent attacked anymore.

It's going to be France. They are an easy target, with lots of Muslims to hide among, and there are many reasons to bomb France. Jihadists see France as anti-Islamic.

Apparently there are those who feel Argentina will be the first Latin American target.

I suspect Italy is high on the list of priorities.

"Al-Qaeda wants Silvio to find out something only dead men know. They no doubt disapprove of Italy's troops in Iraq, but they're probably also still smarting over his post 9/11 remarks: "We must be aware of the superiority of our civilisation, a system that has guaranteed well-being, respect for human rights and — in contrast with Islamic countries — respect for religious and political rights, a system that has as its value understanding of diversity and tolerance." Now will they attempt to prove Berlusconi wrong by wreaking mayhem in Italy?"

and:

"A purported Al-Qaeda statement has threatened Italy will be its next target in retaliation for the policy of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

The statement, written in poor Italian and believed to be by Osama bin Laden, has been published in an Islamist site and included in the evening news broadcast of an Italian TV channel."

If Al-Qaeda were smart they'd hit Italy.

Burlesconi is already catching flak as it is and the war's unpopular. They want Italy to be the next Spain, and wittle us down.

Right...?

Londoners are pretty solidly anti-war. However, we're the kind of people who respond to violence by sticking two fingers up and carrying on drinking.

An entry at Strategypage (http://www.strategypage.com/prediction_market/default.asp)'s prediction market was what got me thinking about it.

It's going to be France. They are an easy target, with lots of Muslims to hide among, and there are many reasons to bomb France. Jihadists see France as anti-Islamic.

That's what I'm thinking. (There's already been at least one attempt - the foiled Strasbourg cathedral bombing plot in 2000.)
