Do you really want World Peace?

Seriously, think about it. This would mean a compromise on every single issue. It would also be quite boring, IMHO. So I ask you this, fellow NSers; Do you truly want World Peace?

Depends how you define "peace"...
For me, even if we have disagreements, we can take it to the negotiating table.

Well, a world full of bored people would probably be better than a world full of dead people, so I'm going to have to go with yes.

We don't have world peace right now, and we're still alive. Unless you suffered a heart attack right after that last post, but I'm still alive.

Nah. We won't have a reason to have big military projects. I love fighter jets. I can't wait for the JSF to come out..

Yeah, those are cool. :)
Of course I do. Who wouldn't?
*knows who wouldn't, but refrains from saying for the sake of the thread*

You don't have to refrain, it's not that good a thread anyway.

We may still be alive, but many other people have been killed in wars. I was suggesting that, if those people were given a choice, most would rather be bored than dead.
And, honestly, it's not like there aren't other topics in the world to entertain one besides warfare. Presumably world peace doesn't mean "complete unanimous agreement on absolutely everything, and also the abolition of all forms of entertainment." :p

I meant in that there would be no need for super-cool fighter jets and we'd have all the laws we need, so much less political satire, which might put the Daily Show into an early retirement. :(

Losing the Daily Show would, admittedly, be sad. I can't argue with that. ;)

No sane human can argue with that. Or else they face the fate of the fluffle-ers

I'm not sure I can even comprehend this world being at peace. Everything I've ever seen only suggests that conflict, sometimes violent and sometimes not, is a constant in our lives.
I wouldn't mind seeing major international conflicts and civil wars put to rest, but I can't even imagine humans putting down their swords unless they're simply picking up their guns.
To me, this question is phrased, "Do you really want to see mankind change on a most basic and fundemental level?" And I say...not really, no. Better the evil I know than the evil I don't.
World peace in its most literal sense seems like some kind of utopian ideal that would doom mankind should they dare try to achive it. Just like every other great ideal that mankind has striven for; it will lead to sadness and ruin in the end.
World peace is impossible with mankind the way it is. And I can't really say I'm hot on the idea of changing what makes us human.

Bravo, you, putting my argument in big, fancy words. :p
OK, but can we still fight off the Earth? I mean, we could turn the moon or mars into a giant battlefield. With cool things, such as sharks with laser beams attached to their heads!!! Of course there is no water on the moon or mars so we could use the sharks on Europa! I will only support World Peace if wars will still be fought, just not on Earth. I mean, wars are amazing!!! If you die you just respawn in a few seconds!!! You carry parachutes so you can jump off buildings!!!! It is uber sweet!!!!
Of course, I learned everything I know about wars from Battlefield 2!! That game is uber sweet!! UBER SWEET I TELL YOU!!!!
"The Bangalore Torpedo was 50' long and packed with 85 pounds of TNT and you assembled it along the way. I'd love to meet the asshole who invented it."
I think the idea of peace is being taken to far, of course there would be scuffles, minor fighting and murder but I would take world peace to mean no major miliatry actions. It is possible to disagree peacefully and possible to have peace without denying our humanity.

The world will only experience peace when humanity ceases to exist.
