Pre-Decision 2008: Who should run, and why?

My fellow earthlings:
The United States of America is scheduled to have an election for electors to the Electorial College to choose the 44th president of the United States on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008. This will be the first "open election" (where neither the president nor the vice-president runs for president) since 1968. My question to you is, who should run? These are the rules:
Must be 35 by January 20th, 2009
Must be a citizen of The United States by blood (born to two American parents), or by sun (born within The Untied States).
Cannot have been elected to the Presidency twice before.

You may suggest as many as you wish, Republican, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, Independent, anyone. As long as you can justify your sentiments. And you don't have to be American, non-Americans are more than welcome to participate.

VP Cheney is now actually saying that he'll consider running. I think that the only reason anyone believed his assertions that he wouldn't run in 2008 is that we all expect him to drop dead from a heart attack at any moment. It's pretty common for VPs to make misleading statements about their political ambitions early on so that they don't distract from the current President.

Personally, I'd like to see George Allen from Virginia run because he's competent and a good guy. I'd like to see a head of lettuce as his running mate because it would taste good on a sandwich if fresh.

You realize that this is all a moot point, because Bush, under the guidance of his advisors, will crown himself Dictator in perpetua, then immediately have all opposition (read 'liberals') silenced.
I better put the  in here, so everyone knows I am being sarcastic.

So true. And he's a democrat, right? As for George Allen, with all due respect, he is one f*cked up dude. He supported tougher penalties for hunting out of season than domestic violence. My personal choice would be Rebecca Walker (she'd get the black vote, the jewish vote, parts of the white vote, the gay vote, the youth vote and the women's vote). Has anyone read her book? Now that I think of it, she would lose the conservative vote, but still, she should run. Reasons why? Well, she had a higher GPA than Bush in Yale to start. She's a talented writer, so chances are we'd get to hear her ideas before her background buddies chewed it up and spit it out as something the country wants to hear. Overall, I think that she's a great person. But to help out with the conservative vote, that guy that Frank Rich wrote about in his 'Liberal Bible Thumping' would be a nice choice.

I'd like to see Joe Lieberman somewhere on the ballot for the Dems and Condi Rice somewhere on the ballot for the Repubs.
If Condi Rice wins, the Dems would be catatonic for 20-25 years at least.
Her candidacy could split the Dems in half, sending me into an extended orgasm that I might never recover from.

I live in Oregon now, ergo she is my former Senatress.
And I wouldn't want to see Wyden run, Kulongoski maybe, but he'll be running for reëlection in 2008.

Minority Leader, Representitive Nancy Pelosi.
If we reclaim the House, and both Bush & Cheney are removed from office because of the Downing Street Memos, she WILL be president (assuming that the House Dems elect their leader as Speaker). But that's a lot of variables, and I don't expect that she can become president otherwise.

I know I m goign to get shot down for this but I would like to see Hilary Clinton run. I think she would haev okay odds for winning, although in all likelihood she would not win. The only other person I coudl think of that would be good to run the country there is not an american. I think Jean Chretien would be good.

I understand that the text still exists, but the original document(s) can be at a moments notice/are destroyed, so therefore isn't there no proof that the memo actually exists? So therefore isn't there no way to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Bush and co. plotted this thing beforehand? On the other hand, if the house and senate are controlled by democrats, i doubt that they'd pay attention to little legal inconviniences.

Because she's a woman? No one in the Democratic Party wants a female president so badly that they'd vote for Rice. McCain could split the democratic vote, however. Hell, a lot of us wanted him to be Kerry's running mate!

I think that if Joe Lieberman and John McCain ran against each other, virtually the entire nation would be happy. I'm a quite conservative person and I'd be just as pleased to see Lieberman in the White House. Hell, if they became running mates, they'd be unstoppable!

A dream match-up would put Hilary vs. Condi in an all out deathmatch in which Condaleeza Rice would win in a landslide. She said she won't, though.

McCain hasn't ruled out a possible run, but he hasn't said he will. He's my kind of guy, though. Last night on the O'reilly factor he said he won't decide till a few years down the road, and that he'd rather focus on getting shit done now than debating on whether or not to run.

Oh, and he's more conservative than you guys think. Check his voting record.

Who I'd really love to see in the whitehouse is Rudy Guliani. He's currently my favorite politician.

Bombolobolia-

She's a woman and she's black. Both groups tend to vote Dem. The AFL-CIO has lost control over its largest group (SEIU-1.2 Million members) and those votes are in play, that's why the SEIU left.

They would be Rice Democrats, never completely leaving the Dems (and pulling the Repub party more to the left) but not willing to vote against the chance to have both the first Black President and the first Woman President. She doesn't have to get all of the women or all the blacks (say 10-15% more for a total of 20-25%) or union members (40% vote Repub anyway). Just 3 million more votes between the 3 plus the 3 Million from the 2004 race and she'll win big. It's easily doable.

Personally, I think she's brilliant and I don't get off on the symbology of "firsts". I wouldn't vote for her if I didn't have confidence in her abilities.
And, like I said, the Democrats would be an extreme minority for a generation at the very least.

Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean denounced the SCOTUS ruling on eminent domain as a product of "The president and his right-wing Supreme Court."

Not one of the justices on the Supreme Court was appointed by President Bush. And the most conservative justices — William Rehnquist, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas — dissented on that ruling.

Who wants to bet that the Dems nominate this guy next time around (like they were about to lthe ast time around) this time they will team him up with H. Clinton as a mate.

I would support 100% Senator Russ Feingold, or Howard Dean. It doesn't look like Dean will run though.
Al Gore might make a comeback and finally put into motion his awesome ideas that should've been implemented had the 2000 elections not been one big charade decided by the Supreme Court.

He might get the chance to get his work done after this 8 year hiatus of republican record shattering budget deficits, warmongering and lying to the American people and to the UN.

Barak Obama!

Ok, so few outside Illinois know who he is. But watch it, he may be running in 2012.

McCain/Dean would be the best choice, but niether party would elect them.

Jon Stewart would be great, but he won't run, because he know he wouldn't win. He couldn't get the backing to get anywhere close to the white house. Plus theres no way he'd want to be prez.

No Condi, No Hillary

Powell would be awesome, but he'll never run. His wife won't let him. Shes afraid he'd be killed in office, and I'd have to agree. The first black man as prez (or even vice prez) has a very good chance of getting taken out. Sucks though.
