Browser Hijacker rant

EDIT: Contains offensive language.
Have any of you experienced this? You use google to search for something completely innocent, like song lyrics or anti-spyware software, click on one of the results, and are immediately redirected to a no-name search engine, a porn site, or some shady spyware software dealer?
It keeps happening to me because there's a trojan in my computer that Norton, Avast!, Spybot, Adaware and Microsoft Anti-spyware can't touch.
Who the fuck is writing these programs and why hasn't government published their names and addresses so I can torture and mutilate their still-living bodies over the course of several days in order to show them the error of their ways? How the fuck can these sub-human walking genital warts beleive that I will buy a product from them after they've redirected my search to some useless and irrelevant site? No shitstain, I don't want access to your porn site. I won't buy your spyware software. Why the fuck would I pay you after you've wasted my time?
I've written my congressman in support of strict laws to punish these pieces of human crap, but nothing came of it. Government needs to regulate this part of the internet. Government should allow those of us who've had malware embedded in our computers to sue the companies responsible for enough money to make sure that their owners and all their employees are reduced to begging for spare change on street corners. I only wish I could track down one of them. Just one. Just to let him know how much I appreciate trying to clean up after the dump he took in my computer.

That happened to my computer last year. It was awful, mostly porn but lots of shitty spam too. We had to have some guy come and clean the hard drive off, if I remember correctly.

You usually get those from visiting a site of ill-repute anyway. My brother would know :p . Come on, tell us the rest of the story ;)

Sure I've been to a few porn websites before, but that doesn't give anyone the right to redirect all of my searches. It doesn't give anyone the right to install unwanted software on my computer. Those people should do hard time with horny rapists.

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html Get HiJack this, and kill the suspicious process. Then start up in safemode, run Adaware, Spybot and then Norton. Just be careful of which processes you kill.

FORMAT C: /S is remarkably effective in cases like this.

Bad (wo)man/neutrally gendered sentient being, bad. Formatting is almost never necessary for such, if you know what to do.

Now, the only thing I could never get rid of MS Anti-spyware took outm, but still can't hurt to try that. If you use the compelte scan it scans: spyware, viruses, trojans, and security flaws

It's not quite that bad yet.

Killing processes is pretty safe if you do a quick websearch for the process name. All the legit ones will come back with a listing and description.
Best is to use spybot S&D to kill processes and programmes in startup. It'll usually tell you if it's legit or not.
Ya need to tell us more so we can help more. A "hijack this" log would help. but failing that list the running processes and startup as shown in S&D.
If it can be put in it can be removed.
EDIT.
Note that this kind of thing is normal. Some seemingly legit sites do push you to crappy searches and a great many use dodgy sites like Bfast (barnes and nobel for instance use Bfast which puts crap on your machine unless you block it in S&D) make sure you've added S&D's host file to your host file (under tools) and immunize.

Beat me to it. Excellent site. Go to the top level and read the link on hijackers.
You might have a variant of coolwebsearch which is a pain in the ass. get the cwshreader. Run it. It's fast and it will take care of it if you have it.
If you don't have it then use the hijack this.
Finally, dump IE. :D
I swithed to firefox and haven't had a hijack or much spyware/malware since.
Two great removers pestpatrol and counter spy.
Pestpatrol is ok for now but I think it will degrade now that Computer Assoicates owns it......
I hate that crap too. I told my husband that if I wasn't married to him I probably wouldn't even own a computer. Too difficult to keep secure. Luckily, I have him around to make sure my machine stays safe and top of the line! :D
It's handy being married to a hacker.
