BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's transitional prime minister called Wednesday for a speedy withdrawal of U.S. troops and the top U.S. commander here said he believed a "fairly substantial" pullout could begin next spring and summer.

Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said at a joint news conference with U.S. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld that the time has arrived to plan a coordinated transition from American to Iraqi military control throughout the country.

Gen. George Casey, the top American commander in Iraq, told U.S. reporters traveling with Rumsfeld that he believed a U.S. troop withdrawal could begin by spring 2006 if progress continues on the political front and if the insurgency does not expand.

Yes, I believe it will happen too... and it will be a good thing... it shows that Iraqi forces are now adequate enough to start fighting on their own.

But that just can't be! How will we ever steal all of Iraq's oil if we're actually going to leave?

I'm not sure the Iraqi forces are ready to take on the responsibility of defending their homeland by themselves and, my biggest fear is that US forces will leave and in a year or two some new dicator will be in power and thousands of American,British and Coalition troops will have died in vein.

But, such is the will of the American public...one day we support Bush and his retarded justifications for war and the next we back a full pullout of a region that can only be described as being in anarchy. -sigh- no wonder the world has such an ugly view of America and Americans.

Just watch.

Just watch? What? For you to get proven wrong again?

Anyways, the Iraqis do seem ready to take over. Remember this isn't a total pull out. This is just a gradual transfer.
