So, how will the world end???

Theists generally believe that the Messiah will return. Occultists might believe that the age is going to end and perhaps we'll pass on to new dimensions. Some whacko might predict something stupid like aliens will come and destroy the earth. Even the athiest concedes that one day the sun will supernova and this little earth of ours will unpleasantly become one with it.

It WILL end. What do you think?

And i agree that it will end with the Second Comming.

My guess nuclear war (if by end of the world you mean of the human species anyway), or for the far out one someone's gonna screw up with a Von Neumann machine either one won't be pretty.

I generally believe that the Earth is most likely to end because of some interstellar catastrophe, such as a meteor or solar flares.

The next most likely scenario is that we destroy ourselves with our own weapons. But I think this is highly improbable. Humans are generally not stupid, they know the consequences if we were to launch hundreds of nukes into the atmosphere.

My money's on genetically modified strategic bioweapons.

The sun won't go supernova. It's too small for that. It will turn into a red giant, possibly engulfing the Earth, and then back to white dwarf size, starting it's gradual descent in to a cold, dark lump.

Humanity will possibly all be wiped out in the Great Reality Show Wars of 2140.

I really think that, judging the history of the world, that it will end in a wholly ironic and amusing way. Amusing from an outside perspective, anyway.

Tensions will rise to the point that millions of nuclear weapons will be launched simultaneously. None of them will explode, and the falling warheads will crush major metropolitan areas into oblivion, leading to the eventual demise of all civilization.

In the same year, the Mets will win the World Series, the Canucks will win the Stanley Cup, the Browns will win the Super Bowl and the Trailblazers will celebrate a three-peat. Then the world will say "oh, bugger that." and implode.
