Sorry Sdaeriji can you delete your post, I was wanting to see how many people could estimate the number off the top of there heads. To gauge perception.

but would not be suprised if it was over 2 million. So that's what I chose

Millions. There'll likely be several different 'estimates' depending on who you want to believe.

Tht's OK. :)
Y'know, Vietnam saw a lot of conflicts in the 20th century. The French, the Vietnamese fighting among themselves, the Americans, the Chinese, even the Cambodians! Vietnam has seen it all.
Unspeakable

According to Giap the Vietnamese lost 2,000,000 combatants over the course of the war so civilian deaths would be proportional.

The accepted estimate for civillian deaths is currently between 2,000,000 and 4,000,000.
Sorry it cant be more accurate, there is not enough data.

Yes, the Russian people defeated fascism for us all, whilst withstanding attrocious casualty figures against the bulk of the fascist armies.

Is this before or after the US pulled out early?

The US and allies pulled out in '73 I believe.

Feel free to point out the irony, I do not see it?
Other than you are implying the Russian people are fascits? Which I would disagree with.

Right. Stalin was a communist. Ultimately, however, the difference seems minimal.

Stalin was Georgian, and neither was he "the Russian people". He wasn't a Communist either, he just called himself one. And the ideological and practical differences are huge.

Stalin was as bad a totalitarian as Hitler. I'll not get into arguments over Scotsmen but I just find it mildlyamusing that the Russians fought and died and still ended up as badly off as though they'd lost.

So you agree the statement is not ironic afterall?

If all of these "Communist" countries are not "communist", what are they? Sorry, but if a nation refers to themselves as communist, I'll take their word for it.

Then you'd be wrong, this is not the point of this thread, but there is no such thing as a communist "country" it is a contradiction in terms. Make a list of the countries you are refering and look up there social-economic and political models, then compare then to various different ideologies, and I am sure you can correlate a reasonable label to place on them.

Iraq under Saddam refered to it's self as a democracy. China refers to it's self as a people's republic.
