Hey, why is the poll question different?

And where are the Twinkies?

I realized that a 3 way poll isn't much fun. :D

Twins? They're like 13 back and we're past the All Star break... not going to happen. Maybe next year. ;)

Besides... there are 13 or 14 teams in the AL, and at best 10 voting options. I figure that removing all teams that were more than 5 games back made sense.

WILD-CARD. The Twins are tied for that.

The wild card concept is an abomination and must be stopped like New Coke.
It ruins the point of the Divisions within the leagues, and makes a real pennant race almost impossible. :(

Purist!! It keeps teams and fans excited in the second half, teams that would otherwise be out of it. If there were no wild card, the Sawx wouldn't have won the series, and that would've sucked. So before you call it an abomination, remember that it keeps people inthe stands, and keeping your sport alive. Uh! Yo' ass got served! :p

I'm a life-long Yankee fan, but I have to say-
GO SAWX!
The AL East is fucking pathetic this year. The Yankees and Sox will battle it out, and whichever team sucks less will squek into the playoffs to be decimated by a real team.

The White Sox are running away with it, and nobody notices. They have something somewhat important to winning in the playoffs- pitching.

MARKREICH FOR COMMISIONER!!!

Also, BUMP CITY A'S, MOFOS! Although I think the NL pennant will be way more interesting this year.

I like how you included the Royals. It's so sad that there's ANY club worst than the Tigers. I mean, you've just stopped trying when you have a worse record than Detroit.

Ayep. :D
Don't get me started about designated hitters or the joke the All Star game has become, either... ;)

Hey, my O's haven't won since 1982. I feel your pain. (I also root for any NY team. Yes, that's a contradiction.)

But other measures, such as players/team/revenue related percentage salary caps would ease that a lot more than just having the best team jocking for position.

Right now, the Yankees basically pay for 3 other MLB teams. That's a good start (sort of), but IMHO the MLB needs to adopt what the NFL did and make the league collective in terms of salaries for players and spending by owners. There is no Yankee organization in the NFL. Sure, sometimes teams get hot, but they never keep it up for decades (see: 49ers, Broncos, Dolphins and Bills.) Even the Pats, whom I'll watch if the Jets/Giants aren't on, probably won't be able to keep it going for more than a couple more years.

Hey! Don't count out my O's!!

Yes, the ChiSox have got Central as wrapped up as it can get. At least it's a RACE this year in the East!

YANKEES! if they stay the way they're going, they'll catch up. Remember when everyone thought the yankees would go for wildcard because they were in third-fourth place, and now they're in a race for first. Also remember when everyone thought Mariano Rivera was over, well he's saved 26 straight games with a 0.85 ERA.
