Burger King's New Slogans and Gimmicks: Offensive and Obscene?

President Shrub

Burger King's marketing their new chicken fries, with a band called Coqroq (pronounced "Cock Rock"). In their commercial and on the website, they have a music video of Cock Rock singing a song entitled, "Bob Your Head."

http://www.coqroq.com/

There's also one scene where a girl climbs up near the stage and the guy "feeds her," a chicken fry.

What with the recent Burger King personification looking like a rendition of Jesus and people making jokes about it being the anti-Christ (see image below), I wonder what Christians and Conservatives think of this.

http://content.ytmnd.com//62000/62513/image.gif

Their last commercial about the Junior Bacon Cheddar Ranch was also extremely sexual. I wouldn't be surprised if Christians start a boycott of Burger King.

I wasn't really disturbed/offended by any of Burger King's commercials. The only reason I voted for the CoqRoq one is because their music sucks.

I didn't go for the sexually explicit vote because that is in almost every commercial now, (AXE, anyone?) and the Jesus thing can be said about anyone with long hair and a beard.

Christians live on faith.

Matthew 6:25-34 25
"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? "And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! "Do not worry then, saying, `What will we eat?' or `What will we drink?' or `What will we wear for clothing?' "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Plus, in the Old Testament, God used to drop food from the sky ("manna") for the Jews.

You think I, and Burger king are hedonistic or simpletons? Burger King maybe, but me, I just expressed my frustration at the prudish and nymphophobic nature of many christians, like the ones who would boycott Burger King because they think the commercials are too sexy. I wasn't talking about you per se.

But feel free to leave the den of smut that is Burger King and start your own restaurant. Your female employees could all wear Burkhas, if some mildly sexual commercials get your feathers ruffled. Kids could get a free crucifix with every happy meal! It's brilliant, really. You could call yourself Burger Lord. Oh, and your commercials, damn those would be awesome. Have some middle eastern guy come up to Jesus "My lord, we 5000 are starving, please help us!" Then Jesus goes "Forsooth, behold I shall make these loaves and fishes feed all of the needy." *jesus touches loaves and fishes, turns into a Burger Lord restaurant!* "Behold, for I say unto you, give a man a fish, and he shall feast for a day, but give a man a Burger Lord, and he shall feast for a lifetime, in a fun and family friendly atmosphere!" All praise the Lord.

There's also some hints of sexual innuendo in the song. As it zooms in on busty a girl picking burgers from a tree, the lyrics go, "the breasts they grown on trees."

It zooms in on a cowboy, with the lyrics, "folks don't fudge it cause you got the juice," then zooms in on two girls with amazing asses with the lyrics, "there's a train of ladies coming with a nice caboose."

Not to mention the sexy girl with the Onion-ring hula hoop.

Geez, people are getting upset over vague innuendo in commercials, these days? You all ought to check out some European nations, or maybe Brazil's, advertising. :)

Why was "feed her" in quotes, and none of this is disturbing. You are overdoing it, it is like how white people are the only ones who find calling someone black is offensive. you are finding offense at little things like a FAST FOOD RESTARAUNT when LITTLE KIDS ARE STARFING. I find the problem is people are so wrapped up in TV, and spending so much time finding sex scandals when there are more important issues.

Yeah, AXE. What a lame commercial. Women are so entirely controlled by primal urges that they want to fuck you when they smell that AXE shit that reminds me of stale goat piss. Sex in advertising is so lame. Like that new 'Just for Men' commercial where the guy gets rejected at the end of the date by a girl that went to high school with his daughter, all because he has gray hair and a gray (gay) beard. But, when it is brown, she just DRAGS him into the house and rides him right there on the welcome mat.

Because In-n-Out uses real ice cream in thier shakes, thier burgers are made to order and never frozen, and thier fires are cut from real potatoes!

In-n-Out, In-n-Out!! Thats what a ham-burgers', all about!

And there ain't no religious quotes on the bottom of the cups, nor on Pepsi cans.

1. Religious nuts make sex sinful

2. Images of sex become rarer and taboo

3. Anything with the slightest mention of sex becomes titillating, and advertisers begin using sex to attract people

4. Religious nuts bitch and moan

Why is it that in this country people are so hung up about sex, while in most societies is considered what it is- a natural part of life which can also be very fun? It reminds me of the GTA thing- murder and carjacking is A-OK, but sex!? Oh, god!

I like Burger king's advertising and food over that of McDonald's. Why does everyone find this King creepy when a clown who "loves" children is not. Burger King's Chicken cheddar Ranch thing was making fun of both the sex sells idea and the recent intrusion of country music. All the quotes on their fries, cups and wrappers make fun of stupid corporate mission statements and philosophies. All McDonald's attempts to do is say that it is international when it is not. Fine, I'd rather not eat at a place with hedonistic simpletons myself.

As a hedonistic simpleton I find that offensive! I'd love to go out to dinner with you!

To all of you taking the elitist high ground saying eww! chicken fries!, "chicken fries" are the same exact thing as chicken nuggets, except in a different shape.

They've been around for quite a while. They are only new to a fast food chain.

1) Burger King does not look like Jesus.
2) I thought they were creepy simply because of the first commercial I saw with the guy in the suit stalking a man in the house...

Anyone whose morals are offended by that stupid commercial needs to get a life in the worst way.

I wasn't offended by their commercials, just mostly non-plussed. Why a fast-food place would think that having sexual ads would get them more customers, I don't know.

I do think the King is funny though. XD

If you think THESE commercials are sexual, try the Paris Hilton Carl's Jr. commercial -- you know, washing the car by rubbing up against it in three wet black bandaids while eating a burger suggestively?

Damn, I wish we had Carl's Jr where I live!

i really agree. It really gets on my nerves when advertisements have images completely irrelavent to what they are trying to sell, for instance, in most magazines and newspapers there are more women than articles. its almost worse than that damn frog!

jeez its everywhere!

People want to be smart, powerful, beautiful, and, yes, have sex. And by appealing to sex, you appeal to beauty and power at the same time. It may seem simplistic but it works, especially in media ads.

Also people are mimicking monkeys and they like to do what they see beautiful, sexy, poweful people doing.

After going to the I am Asian website I think I just officially decided to never eat at mcdonalds again out of principle. What Mcdonalds and people like you seem to keep forgetting is that you are not the ruler of the world. I am. I declared myself ruler of the world last week. It is only a matter of time before I violently crush liberals, mcdonalds, sexual advertising, and homosexuals with my iron fist. This phase of rebellion against my authority will soon be over and everyone will repent and turn to me as there dictator or they will pay the ultimate price.

before you ruled with your iron fist, did you make fries with it? why should i obey your fist? my fist is probably bigger, and its titanium *nods*

And there ain't no religious quotes on the bottom of the cups, nor on Pepsi cans.

Actually, there are on the In-N-Out cups. I would know,; I live less than 5 miles from one and have lunch there every weekend.

The Shake cup has John 3:16 on the bottom (just the name of the scriptire, though.)

Its all true, The Burger King IS the Anti-Christ! Flee before you too are consumed in an altruistic feeding frenzy of fries and chicken wings with a side helping of burgers! The End is nigh because the King has appeared! It is true because people can become offended by weirdo's in plastic masks!
