Nothing Robitussm (sp) or band-aids can't fix.

For the big stuff, we use BOTH!

"Dad! My arm's broken!"
"Lemme grab the Robitussm and pour some on that arm of yours..."
"Oh fuck it burns!"
"Lemme grab this bandaid here..."

I wish I had a sister...I'd like to see if a bandaid would be used if that "special time of the month" came...

For colds: 1 tablespoon of Cayenne pepper in an 8 oz. cup of hot water. Mix and enjoy. Works like a charm everytime. You'll be back to normal the next morning.

For fevers and flu: 1 or 2 extra blankets. Sweat it out! Works everytime. You'll be back to around 80%-90% after a good nights rest.

Bye!

Hot lemon drink with honey, to be precise. ^^

Works very well, due to the Vitamin C and the steam.

Ours is garlic, ginger and whisky for a cold. Lemon and whisky for a soar throat and whisky for the heck of it.

Okay... so it's not really a remedy. But it's what we do! And we all get better eventually. So it works, right?

Zicam is practically a cure. My experience has been that, when used properly, I'll be mostly over my cold by the next day. If used within the first 24 hours of the onset of symptoms, I'll be 80% cured by the next day and completely better by the day after that (as opposed to 7-10 days). If used within the first 48 hours of symptoms, I'll be 75% better for the next two days, then completely better after that. The stuff is a miracle. and completely homeopathic.. the only problem is that you really have to use it when your cold first starts (otherwise it won't do any good at all... the sooner you start, the more effective it will be), and you don't feel any relief whatsoever until at least 12 hours have passed... so you're using the stuff every 2-4 hours and thinking "why am I wasting my time with this? it just feels like i'm sticking goo up my nose." But it's totally worth it, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone. A bottle typically costs about $9.

Of course, nobody ever listens, so I'm probably just wasting my time explaining this. But at least you've been told, I guess.

Completely homeopathic means it contains no actual medicine.

Correct! Good job pointing that out! :)

Ok, sarcasm aside, the product is a translucent gel with zinc in it that you spray into your nose. Cold viruses reside in eyes and nose of a person, and can thus be called a rhinovirus. For reasons to technical to get into, the zinc from the spray mechanically inhibits the virus' ability to attach to and multiply in our cells, thereby making for an exceptionally short bout with the virus. Because it's mechanical, and because you're not ingesting it, it's homeopathic which, as you so diligently pointed out, means that it contains no actual medicine. I really don't care if you want to stay skeptical of it because it's not like I sell the stuff; I'm just telling you that I personally have had tremendous success with it, and it can be found in the cold remedy aisle at any local drug store.

I didn't know about the zinc content. Yep, it's been shown that zinc can reduce the duration of a cold. So I guess it's the zinc, not the homeopathic stuff that gets the job done.

Sorry for my prior reaction, I just have a problem with homeopathic medicine. It's based on impossible science, it's a ripoff, and it's got special protection from the federal government. That bothers me.

i think that might have bats in it. an old history teacher of mine once had that stuff hoisted on him by his mother-in-law.

I'm pretty sure it worked for him too.

Lol. Don't worry. No bats!

But for some recipes, snakes, rats or scorpions may be used.

i Know an old family cold remedy. it Not my family but still. you Take the blood of five virgins named Jerry, cut up their bodies into exactly nine pieces. one Of these parts must include gentials. take the part with the genitals and put it in the oven for approx 6 hours. discard the remaing eight parts by throwing them into a blue bin. throw The blue bin into a hole which must be at least seventeen feet deep. once The part with genitals is really take it from the oven (use oven gloves!) and put it in a bowl which is filled with the aforementioned blood. shake This well and then urinate in it. leave It for a day and then drink periodically (every hour or so). the Cold should clear up within the week.

Feed a cold, and starve a fever is what I've always heard. Meaning ..eat with a cold, and drink with a fever.. But I find eating light -- soup n crakers(saltines), drinking juice (some sicknesses cant handle orange juice) and sleep will help your body. Green Tea and honey, some whiskey and honey can't hurt either, drink a little bit and then knock out. Sweat that fever out! Rest is the key.. unless you have something that really need anti-biotics.

Whiskey is Irish
Whisky is Scottish

The Scottish are Irish-Gaelic Tribe that kicked the Picts out in AD something.

The Irish like to randomly add an e in all words. :p

Irish Whiskey is 'Distilled Twice and then filtered through peat.-or something.
The Scotish only 'Distil' it once.

*Irish at least do something more than Scotch.

All the information above is correct or incorrect. :p
I learnt it once but have forgotten. :p

The reason Scottish is so popular(In America) IMSO is because of the Abolitionist years when the moonshiners could 'Brew up' the scottish version quicker than the irish.

It now seems cool to drink Scotch.

OK.. I love Scottish and Irish culture/people/heritage. I remember watching something either on Travel channel or the Food channel about Whisky and Whiskey. So if I want a real Scotch.. I need to go with a Whisky? Indeed. I've always wanted to taste a real scotch. .. but I'll tell ya.. if it tastes or smells anything like the liqours over here .... Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, George Dickel, Wild Turkey etc.. I won't like it.

Yeah

One of the finest Scotch's is made in Bombay(Mumbai)India and because of the Humidity evapouration is chronic.LOL
But it also turns out well because of it.

I blame Irish bashing.
