I've been searching through these forums and one thing that I have noticed is the lack of Green Lantern in them. I know this whole thing is supposed to about government, but come on it's the Green Lantern.
Yes, let's talk about his religon, his sexuality, and his politics.

It is remarkable in it's absence, isn't it? Well, at least that is to be remedied. :)
Let me just say that I prefer Kyle Rayner best. He had the most interesting personality. They had to kill Hal Jordan to give him one. *bleah*

What's funny is that, this being NS, someone one will somehow manage to flame the Green Lantern. Or maybe I'm just very cynical.
Anyways, I can't really contribute much to the discussion since I barely remember the cartoons he was in, and I was never a big fan of comic books.

I liked Hal Jordan when he was the Spectre, expeccialy during Rebirth (Black Hand scene). But on the whole I think Kyle is the coolest, not only is he a kick awseome GL, but he gets Jade, he's an artist, and is just a really average guy. Unlike Hal, c'mon he was a test pilot, Guy has his own club, Alan Scott runs a telecomunications company, Jon runs a construction buissnes, and (even though she isn't technically a GL) Jade is a super model.

Green Lantern? Don't you mean the Most Glorious Lantern AKA MGH? (I don't know how many people will catch this reference...)

I stole the Lantern of the Green Lantern of these forums. Without the ability to re-charge her ring, she took to drinking and was run over while trying to stop a municipal bus with a ring she got from a gumball machine.

I was always more of a Green Hornet fan, myself. Even the Phantom was more exciting to read than Green Lantern comics.

Yeah, I really dug the Phantom. Except all the ones I had as a kid were in French... so I just mostly looked at the pictures and tried figuring out what was supposed to be going on.

It's Green Arrow all the way man.
And on a Green Lantern related note, what kind of weakness is the color yellow? Is that not the most pathetic weakness ever? Superman had his kryptonite, Batman was a mortal and thus vulnerable, and the Green lantern has yellow.
GL:ha ha, your bulllets have no effect!
GL:Wait, what the hell is that!!! Yellow PAINT! A road sign!!! NOOO!!!!

He's a gay Commie atheist, just like all the rest.

True that. A hero that is no match for the common banana. And I always thought the ring was just a bit too "fancy."

The Green Lantern Core! It's like an intergalactic Sacred Band of Thebes!
(stop me if you don't get the allusion)

I remember looking at Smurf comics in French when I was a kid. They were called Strompfs, or something like that.

I remember looking at Smurf comics in French when I was a kid. They were called Strompfs, or something like that.
Those were always the last to leave the public library I spent a lot of time in, growing up in Quebec. Tintin and Asterix hard-bounds flew off the shelves, but those "Schtroumpfs" (as I recall them being so named) never budged.
I think most of the kids I knew felt the "Schtroumpfs" were just a lame attempt to pander to the under-twelves. Never much took to 'em.

Same here, but I know Lantern's weakness was yellow. I don't know what Arrow's was. I don't remember a weakness to wood, but I could be wrong of course.

Alan Scott, the Original Green Lantern's power ring could not affect wood.
All other green lanterns' rings could not directly affect anything yellow. This was due to a 'flaw' in the common power source they shared. It was actually not a flaw, but an imprisoned evil demon within the power source that was tainting it. With the removal of that demon, the rings no longer have that weakness.
