Typical idiocy.

Blonde hair was always associated with purity and nobility. It wasn't until post-World War II Hollywood began it's assault on blonde hair, and the large number of non-blonde whores dyed their hair blonde, that it became associated with being stupid. <g> I wonder why Hollywood turned on blondes after World War II? Think hard.. Considering that the Scandinavian countries, including Iceland, are all in the top five in living standards, and that the British and Germans, the smartest people in Europe, have high rates of blondeness, the emptiness of the notion is manifest. Blonde hair is a recessive trait -- and an extremely desireable one.

The same reason one is proud of anything that is incidental-by-birth, such as nationality. That is where this is headed, if I'm not mistaken. [EDIT:] On re-reading the thread, I may have been mistaken. ^^;

The number of people voting that they're proud of their brown hair explains a lot...

(Actually, I voted "yes" just to skew the poll, figuring I'd be the only one. Imagine my surprise when it put me in the majority...)

Where do you get this European IQ ratings nonsense? I believe for example the freaking enlightment emerged in the brown haired land of Italy while the scandenavians were still semibarbaric. Have you forgotten about how western Civilization was started by typically dark haired greeks? I have heard people with their questionable bell curve theories for different races' intellect but you seem to be even more out there.

who gives a shit what hair color is smarter or what race or country is smarter? is that a way to make yourself feel better for being dumb? say taht u are a part of a smart minority/majority? maybe we now have brown hair supremecists and blonde hair sumpremecists

the intelligence part of this should just be dropped because there is no proof that anyone is smarter than anyone else, in all races, nationalities, hair colors, and genders there will always be smart people and dumb people.

I believe for example the freaking enlightment emerged in the brown haired land of Italy while the scandenavians were still semibarbaric.

First of all, the Romans were an Indo-European people. Hence, they were akin to all present day Europeans. Blonde hair was not uncommon amongst them, especially early on and amongst the nobility. Many of Rome's emperors had blonde or even red hair, among them Augustus, Tiberius, Nero, Vespasian, Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius -- and even Julius Caesar. Essentially all of the great emperors.

However, Rome imported people from all across the world. Many of these people were dark-haired and darker-skinned. The recessive and dominant component came into play and blonde hair became much less prevalent. Nevertheless, Italy's economic powerhouse is in the north -- where the German tribes settled. In fact, in the Northeast (Tyrol) Italian citizens still speak German. The Italian Renaissance took place north of Rome, as well.

The same certainly holds true with the Greeks and Macedonians. Once, blonde hair was very common. Alexander the Great, for example, was said to have had golden hair. Over time, blonde hair is easily bred out of the population due to it's recessiveness.

That this must be explained to adults is rather depressing. Read, and use your common sense.

Brown hair, like blonde and red hair, signifies 'Caucasian' (i.e. White) ancestry. For instance, some northern Chinese will have brownish hair rather than the typical black, and this is due to an ancient Caucasian influence in the area. They were absorbed but their genes sometimes will express themselves.

It's also commonplace for babies of European ancestry to have lighter hair, and it will often become darker as they grow older. (as mine did)

It's hair! HAIR!!! Get over it!

I answered this poll because I thought it was a silly joke. Then I read on to find that people were taking this crap seriously. Having a certain hair color does not make you smarter or dumber than anyone else...

I'm really sorry to burst your bubble on that one.

Blonde hair is a recessive trait -- and an extremely desireable one.
Meaning what-- you like blondes? In what way is it desirable above other hair colors? Sounds more like a preference to me.
I like brunettes myself. Actually, black hair and smokey eyes are my biggest turn-on.
It's hard not to read your statement as "blondes are superior to other hair colors". If that wasn't your intention, I apologize. But it sure sounded pretty nazi to me.

I used to really hate my hair colour, so I used to highlight it, dye it black and what not.

Now that the black has faded, I'm quite happy with my hair colour.

It's a pretty kind brown, kind of goldy with a red tint. Hm.

Plus, hairdressers used to talk about my hair colour like it was a God, that's something to be proud of, yes?

Yes, and the time has come to proclaim our pride! The Brown-haired people have suffered far too long under our oppressors: the evil Blonde-hair and their nefarious allies the Reds, who are little more than Communist sympathizers. Enemies on all fronts, and even fifth column dyed-Browns amongst us! We must purge these traitors and embark on a mission for the purity of our hair color!

This poll is clearly flawed, because there's two-options for "yes"!

This is probably just propaganda from anti-brown haired activists.. Probably self-hating brown-haireds that want to exterminate the brown-haired race.

But God SEPARATED us, with Cain and Abel. He placed A MARK on Cain, and that mark was... BLONDE HAIR. And all of the blonde and red-haired races came from them.

I'm DAMN PROUD to be brown-haired, and won't let any blondies or redheads try to convince me otherwise.

Brown power! Brown power! Brown power!

*fart*

Besides, everybody knows goatees rock, but they only look good with brown hair.

Ya ever seen a blondie or a redhead with a goatee? FUCK NO!

Because their hair color is inferior... And their goatees just don't look right.

As with those of Australian indigen extraction.

What is one to make of blonde hair as naturally occurs amongst such apparent non-Caucasoids as the continental aborigines depicted here (http://www.geocities.com/refuting_kemp/blond_austral.html) and, rather more strikingly, here (http://www.heretical.com/bjerre/aborig2.html)?

My geuss is some sort of cooling mechanism from ages ago or it being bleached from the sun. Since light colours reflect light, the idea is cooler. The sun also may bleach it, which appears more likely do to the somewhat black roots.

I doubt any manner of bleaching entirely accounts for the phenomenon, as, on the matter, accounts fairly uniformly speak, as the second link did, of 'nearly all the children [being] blonde, but [becoming] dark as they grow older'.

I'm proud of having brown hair (I'm told it fits my eyes) but I don't necessarily consider myself superior to others because of it. My hair was dirty blond when I was a kid and has become steadily darker. I dyed my hair black once, just to see what it was like and I didn't really mind.

Besides, what does hair color really say about your character?
