Lucky bastard.

Absolutely, I'm going there myself.
I recommend Leicester Square, always fun to see, Hagen-Dazs cafe there or just to sit there, go take in a show, Lion King 2 is good apparently, as is Stomp if its still running. Other than that, Trafalgar Square is worth a look. Don't go by the tourist guidebook, the best things to go and see in the city are not the ones mentioned in the book as must sees. If you like that kind of thing then the Tate Modern is good, and go and see the Globe Theatre, Shakespeare's old theatre.

yeah we were talkin about that the other day. thing is though, we're staying in Essex, and we're flying into Stansted. so it might get a wee bit expensive.

The globe isn't actually Shakespeare's old theatre, it's a reproduction of Shakespeares old theatre.

Try and get tickets for shows - there's a ticket place in Leicester Square where you can queue up for returns (I'm off to see Ewan MacGregor in Guys and Dolls tonight).

The museums are good, but they might be busy as it is the school holidays. The Science Museum has a Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy exhibition on at the moment.

Visit one of the markets - Portobello Road on a Saturday is good. The market has antiques/reproductions at one end, general goods/fruit and veg in the middle, clothes and other stuff at the other end, and then kind of goes to second hand/bric a brac if you follow it right to the very end.

St Pauls Cathedral and Westminister Abbey are worth a look, even if you're not religious. Lots of famous dead people.

well, my travelling companions are 16/17 so i dont know how eager they'd be to go to museums and stuff(damn! ) but I'll defo push for the markets, and maybe the shows. :)

I'd recommend going to the Hard Rock cafe, because I go there everytime I'm in London. Erm, the London Dungeons are always funny if someone in your group hasn't been there before. Otherwise, I'd just follow one of the many tourist trails because alot of them capture most of the historical sites in London that you'd probably want to see.

Oh, and if it's sunny. The London Eye is a pretty good way to relax in the afternoon (although I suspect that others might disagree with me there).

Madame Tussauds is pretty cool, as is the Natural History Museum. Not so keen on the Science Museum.

You'll have to remember that just about everything is twice as expensive in the UK compared to the US.

If any of your companions are into comics/films (particularly Sci-Fi and Fantasy) then you should visit the Forbidden Planet shop at the North East end of Shaftesbury Avenue.

it's cheaper than Dublin, though. and there's a forbidden planet on Aston Quay in Dublin anyway.

Union jack hat? I'm Irish, it's not going to happen. (that's not a slander on the brits on the forum, but, y'know...)

the rest of the group did the eye last year. I'm trying to find something original to do.

Go to a restaurant called "The Rainforest Cafe" (I think).
You have to book in advance, or else wait for ages in line, but it is really worth it. Its brilliant :D

You're going to Essex?

If you meet a red haired girl named Cayley Last tell her...

"F*ck you."

Say it was from Armand...

Camden is always well worth it. When I go I take out a whole day just for the one place. Go on a market day if possible.

No way!

I live right next to Chingford!

* For the record, places to go:

Camden Market

All the touristy places, you have to go once heh ..

Check the backstreets around Regents street/Oxford Street, you'll find some really cool shops.

Tate Modern, Science Museum, Natural History Museum. Check them out!

Also go to the parks, they're lovely. (Hyde Park/Finsbury Park etc.)
