I am a bassplayer, and i like funky basslines, so where does one look for funky lines? Funk, where else? But what has happened to funk? It is so incredibly hard to find good 60's and 70's funk. What happened to bands like Sly and the Family Stone and Parliament/Funkadelic? Is generic r&b and whinge pop the only thing people find appealing these days? Personally i am appaled at the popular music these days as i do not find rap or techno entertaining in the slightest. If there are any funk fans out there that feel my pain please let me know, and reccomend me some groups to look up. If i am the last bastion of funk, then please tell me what happened to the great genre of music, and why it died.

PS: i dont wanna get flamed purely because i said i dont like certain types of music, that is my opinion and i hope you respect it as much as i respect your tastes in music (even though i may not agree with them).

It's a word used by groups like MTV and rappers as a positive thing. Naturally, it is very bad.

Oh, rap, eeugh.... i really dont know how people enjoy that music, apart from the film clips rap really has nothing going for it in my books. i dont see how a looped beat with some funny little noises thrown in every now and then can be entertaining.
