Airshows
So has anyone gone to one? Anything interesting?
The first one I went to was also the biggest one I've been to and was in Duluth, MN. The F-117 was on display and there was a demostration by Cobra helicopters and etc.
The last two airshows locally in Minneapolis,MN have been pretty interesting as well. Last year it featured the people who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. This year, the Black Sheep Squadron were there. The difference between the two is that there were a lot more foreign aircraft last year like MiGs and a US plane used in WWII China.
Lastly, has anyone actually piloted a plane?

I've gone to a couple airshows as I live near an airbase, but that was a while back. I remember seeing the blue angels, which were insane. I also remember walking under the SR-71 Blackbird and seeing the B-2 Spirit of Arizona, which I have a poster autographed by the pilot himself.
Lastly, I have piloted a glider (as I was only ~13 years old!), but it's my dream to be a pilot for the Navy, preferably the F/A-18 Super Hornet or F-22 (if they design a carrier based version) or whatever fun new killing machine the U.S. military contractors dream up! Let's see if I'm still the only one to reply. :)

I've been to a few airshows.
And I've piloted a Cessna Skyhawk, and a Jet Provost. Fun, fun, fun.
edit: Achtung, you don't wanna fly the JSF?
Well I work as a flight instructor. You can see me with one of the birds I teach out of in the player's photos thread.
We have airshows here every year. They usually have a good show featuring many aerobatic teams as well as single aircraft demo's. One of my favorites is the Snowbirds. Thier 10 aircraft formation is really impressive!
Achtung 45, keep following the dream. I did and I am living it! ;)

In Chattanooga we used to have really neat airshows with on ground displays of all sorts of nifty military aircraft from all over the world. The last time I went was sometime in the late nineties (cant remember the exact year). Another plus for going to the airshow there was that my father worked for Shaw aviation (when they still had a flight department) and we could sit in the climate controlled hangar in the shade and watch the show while all the other poor bastards burned in the sun down at the main airport.
