Do you think I'm...? (For atheists only, please)

I tell you that I am a Christian, and have been for most of my life. Do you think I am...? Just interested in seeing peoples' opinions...I know the answer of course, maybe I'll tell you after a few hours.

It's a trap, get an axe.
Did you really just say you are going to battle a preconcieved notion with a preconcieved notion?
Bravo, that's hard to pull off without trying...

ya, pretty much. if you want to look at it like that. but i know things about myself that rule out all but one option, so it's a bit easier than that.

I would say that you are a true believer, as I would say that you truly believe in a one true Christian God.
However, in my opinion I would say that you have a longing for meaning, a certain level of gullibility, and a background in which you have been told that the Christian belief and lifestyle is the best way to go, with constant negative connotations being cast on non-traditional ways of life (brainwashed).

How the heck should we know? I don't know you. Some Christians act like their book tells them to; some don't.

i like the way you can tell me I'm brainwashed, gullible, and believe in something that doesn't exist without insulting me. Well done!

I believe you are simply normal...most people want to feel there is a god, someone watching over and protecting them from harm. It's human nature to not want to be alone and to want to feel safe, so I dont think you are any of the above, simply normal.

I don't think there is anything wrong with being Christian, even though I am jewish. While there are a lot of things that Christians believe in that seem 100% insane, and while I hate those preachers who come around in parks, it is your own religion and you have the right to practice it however the hell you want.

Now, I didn't say that you are those things, just that it was my opinion. I also never mentioned anything about you believing something that doesn't exist.
I would like to see your answer to my post after you get sufficient responses, though.
Well, if you live your life morally and try to exemplify the teachings of Jesus, I respect you 100%. Although I'm agnostic, I respect those who live their lives as their religion dictates. Since I cannot know for sure what exists in the spiritual world, I can't call you brainwashed or gullible but only as having different beliefs.

Does it really matter what other people think of you? What the hell is the point of asking a question you already know the answer to?
You are simply going with what works for you and makes you happy. Bravo!

I am assuming that you were born and raised in a religious environment? It doesn't really matter anyhow. You're probably not worried what atheists think of you, as I am not worried what religious people think of me. However, if you're actually concerned that atheists think you're gullible, stupid, and perusing a belief that's a "waste of time" then you're obviously wrong. I don't speak for the entire atheist community, and there can be some really extremists out there, but I'd have to say that the majority of atheists don't look at you as some lost and stupid mind.
I have respect for you that, you peruse what you believe in, whatever the case may be. I, as an atheist, hold no hostilities to any religious people, maybe besides the ones that attempt to install their beliefs, morals, and lifestyle into everyone else, and violate people's own free will to believe and pursue what they believe in. I look at the average Christian no differently than I do the average atheist, agnostic, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, and everything else. I realize that, people's religion is their life's passion, and I hold a sense of respect toward that. I hold a perfound respect toward people that actually (not just say they do) pursue the lifestyles of Jesus, or what ever teacher they believe in. I'm a friend of the pastor of the church that my family belongs to, I still sometimes would like to seek him for comfort if that may be the case, and I still like to talk with him. I still go to church every now and then even though I am pretty settled that I am atheist. It's not the beliefs or the religion; it's the people that I have a profound liking toward. I know there are crazy extremists, but I'm fortunate enough to belong to a church that welcomes anyone and everyone in their doors, and a very kind pastor. I like what the religious community are doing; without their services and organizations, we would only rely on federally funded programs for the poor, sick, and the unfortunate. And I am glad to take place in church programs that help people.
If an atheist or person speaking from another religion calls you anything from that list of stereotypes and labels you have listed in your choices, I think you have reserved the right just to smack them silly. :)
Keep at what you believe in, and enjoy your freedom to do so!

I certainly don't look down on you for your beliefs, for all I know I could be wrong, nobody's infallible. I can't know if you're a 'true believer' because I don't know you qand I'm not going to vote for the same reason. :)

You're desperate for hope/purpose. And are unfaithful to reason and resorting to something conjured by the human mind to get them through life. If you want my opinion I suggest that you read 'The Salmon of Doubt' by Douglas Adams. There's a part in there that describes my feelings very well.

I think that you need something to belive in, but that doesnt mean your "desparate".
You more than likely just believe what you were taught to believe in.
You probably attend the same church that you always have, and the same church your parents go to....basically, you were programmed to be a christian.
I can only hope you dont use your faith as a tool to hate, like many do.
If you dont...then you've been paying attention to what your faith is trying to teach you.

Simply owing to the fact that we have thousands of years of history of MANY religions... and live in a world still populated by many religions... and since not ONE of them has any more concrete evidence than any other one...
Simply owing to those little factors, I suspect you are probably 'wrong', and have misplaced your faith somewhere where it perhaps doesn't ultimately deserve to be.
But, it's your faith... to do with as you please.
And, so long as you don't try to control MY life, based on YOUR faith, we are all good.
if youre christian due to your parents, grandparents or anyone else, youre brainwashed. if you follow the bible because of the messages of peace and love, your gullible, due to the fact that it couldnt be more contradicing to be christian AND a peace-lover (but still i respect the idea), and if you believe in angels, and the biblical personification of god, youre just plain stupid (or perhaps merely disillousioned)
Thats my view of things, i sincerely hope that no-one gets personally offended by it. though i do not agree with it, i still respect the decision you made, and the fact that youre taking a stand.
