You have Coldplay, but no Radiohead? Bah.
Well, being a metal person myself, I would have to list a few metal bands...
My top three bands are Mudvayne, Lamb of God, and Korn.

Rush is a great Canadian band. My favourite album they ever made was "2112" However, you're an "Evil Arch Conservative" and I feel so wrong agreeing with you..lol Although I certainly don't believe Rush was or is the best band of all time.
Right now, it's the legendary Minneapolis trio, Husker Du.

they have some stuff in english and a few english lyrics interspersed in their music, and you can always look up translation, but the lyrics, althoguh good, can be strange (especially for the englsih songs because their accents are ridiculous). Check out "Subhuman" and "We have a theme song" the english version

I disagree with you completely. I love alot of their early stuff, especially "Love, Love Me Do". I also think that you have your Beatles chronology off.
And personally, I think the the three albums leading up Sgt Pepper to and Sgt. Pepper itself were their best.
They included:
Yesterday, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, Norwegian Wood, In My Life, Eleanor Rigby, and A Day in the Life. You can't find to many songs by any band that are better than those.

All good tunes, I can admit when I'm wrong. (you don't see that happen too much around here).. but yes, those are all awesome songs. I was only born in 1969, so I had an older brother who turned me onto a lot of music. I just knew I love Sgt. Pepper and on.. I still maintain though that the pop crap, "Love, Love me Do" stuff was still crap. They had to get raw, as does any really gifted musician. While all those tunes you named are classic ones'. They got raw on Sgt. Pepper and on..

I know a lot of people who don't like the Beatles' early stuff either, so thats nothing new, I just have a soft spot for pop music.
But John Lennon really did start to shine after Sgt. Pepper. That is sort of when he began to write separately from Paul. George also began to hit his stride around then, when he started hanging out with Eric Clapton.
Fleetwood mac is good too!
Only circa 1968-1971 though, after that the thread is lost and never regained, and even then aside from Peter Green's tunes they should have been put on trial and convicted of grave robbing Elmore James - check the track credits on their first couple of LP's, just about every tune credited to Jeremy Spencer is a simple lift, chord sequence, top line and lyrics, from the old bluesmen.

Agree on all counts (except the pop music)..lol :D

As far as I'm concerned. some of the earlier Beatles output works fantastically well on 7", but fails in the context of an LP - take Day Tripper for example, as a single it is almost flawless, but when placed in the context of an LP it always seems to be cloyed and dragged down by the great gobbets of McCartney sentimentality that always seem to bookend it. Do yourself a favour and track down a vinyl version of the single and you'll hear how well it works in isolation from the rest of their contemporaneous releases.
Those bands are considered "rock" bands? wow...I'm 100% metal than.
To choose just one? not possible, so I will list my top seven...

Can't say I like Drowning Pool, Static X, or Slipknot, but the others are pretty good. Except for newer Metallica. Do you like Black Sabbath? Or just Ozzy's solo band. I myself much prefer Black Sabbath, it's much darker.

No, no, but personally I prefer the first side of Grant Hart's/Nova Mob's The Last Days of Pompei LP or the track Sunspots off Mould's Workbook LP to anything the band did when they were still together.
No. no, but personally I prefer the first side of Grant Hart's/Nova Mob's The Last Days of PompeiLP.
I've not heard that one, but I hear it's quite good. I like Grant Hart's stuff, especially his songs on New Day Rising (Terms of Psychic Warfare is pure gold).
If their solo stuff is as good as you say it is, I'll definitely look into it (I'll also listen to Sugar). I still can't get over Newest Industry, Celebrated Summer, and These Important Years, though.
I've not heard that one, but I hear it's quite good. I like Grant Hart's stuff, especially his songs on New Day Rising (Terms of Psychic Warfare is pure gold).
The Hart solo/post-HD stuff can best be described as of somewhat mixed quality, but when it comes together well it shines in a way that his tracks off Warehouse: Songs And Stories never seemed to manage. How can anyone resist the simultaneous highly dubious puns and condemnation of the US's forgiveness of people who emplyed slave labour involved in a tune such as My Favourite Colour Is Wehrner von Braun?
If you are an HD fan, which I know that you are, do yourself a favour and read some William S. Burroughs and then some Thomas Pynchon and then track down the Pompei LP. It makes a crazy kind of sense.
Sugar always struck me as simultaneously too indie-pop and maudlin for my tastes.
I still can't get over ... These Important Years, though.
I lean heavily towards Charity, Chastity and Hope as the stand out tune on the Lp myself.

Charity, Chastity, Prudence, and Hope is indeed good, but my favorites are These Important Years, Ice Cold Ice, Could You Be The One, Friend, You've Got To Fall, No Reservations, Turn It Around, Up In The Air, and You Can Live At Home.
That said, I really like a good portion of Warehouse.
