And I'm fucking beat. Not much to say about it, I suppose. First time there, didn't do nearly as much physical as others(being in a group of first-timers, learning etiquette, etc), but I managed to get chaffing inbetween my legs, sweat in my eyes(still hurts), sunburnt, etc.

At least I got to eat some gourmet MRE's.

So did they send you out to the Joint Training Base next to Long Beach for REP 63, then? Where the recruiters pretend to be drill sergeants? That was soooo lame. I went there once between my time in the Marines and my time in the Guard. Try to go out to your unit instead, if you can.

Actually, I went to dublin, for a mini-boot camp. I go there until I completely boot camp and AIT/IADT.

Also, I might have to leave and re-sign up. I want to be a bradley guy, but I'm an 11 Bravo. I was under the impression that I could get into a Bradley unit from that. I might have to re-signup as an 11 Mike...

Supposedly, they are consolodating the 11 series into one MOS, and taking my MOS, 19D with it. (So long, Cav Scouts). In California, most of the infantry units are Bradley units. As a brand-new private, you WILL be a driver, which totally blows. BORING. Light infantry is the way to go. You ride in hummers everywhere. :-) Nifty little secret.
So yeah, the pre basic thing is Rep 63. Hella lame. Just remember that when you salute, your middle finger touches your eyebrow or your cover.
Driving the Bradley is pretty fun. If you are in a unit with some Star Wars dorks, you can say things like "This is Gold Leader. I'm beginning my attack run." But it is way more fun to be a dismount. You just have your TC lie and say that your back hatch is broken, then you get to sit in the back and sleep while the dismounts from another track get out and slog the dead space. And trust me, you will sleep in those crappy seats while your Kapok smacks against the TOWs in the racks.

I think I heard something about that, but I know people who are doing 19D and all, so its not in effect yet, at least. I just don't want to be hoofing it, unarmoured, in iraq. If im in a nice armoured vehicle with a nice gun, I'm happy.

I didn't get a 97 on my asvab to hoof it :P

No, we 19D's are still alive and well. SUPPOSEDLy the MOS is getting placed into the 11 series.
Well, no matter your MOS, at some point, you WILL be hoofing it in Iraq. That's the nature of the beast. Artillery? Infantry. Engineers? Infantry. Armor? Infantry. See a pattern? Plus, whenever there is a nice, armoured vehicle with a nice gun (and a 25mm is a NICE gun), it is a very tempting target. And Bradley armor ain't that thick.

*Fire in the Hole!!!*

Did they teach you how to handle prisoners?
Will they later on?
======================
Anyways, how high is the risk that you could be sent to Iraq or some other place?

On the salute. If you wear glasses, the finger is supposed to touch the rim of your glasses.

You will be equipped with armour when you get there. All the best stuff goes there. So if you want the updated stuff, you should volunteer to go to Iraq.

Only the MP's and MI's handle the prisoners. If you catch one, you have to hand him over to them.

MP: Military Police?
MI: Military Intelligence?
What about when there aren't enough people around and they need to use national Guard for such duties?
....
Oh, I'll just say it. Since Abu Ghraib happened, did they add prisoner handling, or ethics courses to the training?
