the philosiphers song by the monty python lot

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant,
Who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table.
David Hume could out consume
Schopenhauer and Hegel;
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine,
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel...
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya
'Bout the raising of the wrist,
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed...
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill
Plato they say, could stick it away,
Half a crate of whiskey every day!
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram--
And René Descartes was a drunken fart:
"I drink, therefore I am."
Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed--
A lovely little thinker,
But a bugger when he's pissed!

Phil Collins' cover of You Can't Hurry Love was fantastic. And Wet Wet Wet's cover of Love is All Around was better than the original. Can you think of any others?

Ash did a cover of Everybody's Happy Nowadays by the Buzzcocks. It's just as good as the original.

Husker Du did a cover of Sheena Is A Punk Rocker by the Ramones, and it's probably even better.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but there is one thing that is always true about covers. All Bob Dylan covers are better than the original Bob versions. I don't mean any disrespect to Bob, because he is the best American songwriter ever probably, but his versions of his songs are very sparse. And he is not such a great singer. Examples: All Along the Watchtower by Hendrix, Don't Think Twice by the ABB, Mr. Tambourine Man by the Byrds, Blowin' in the Wind by Peter, Paul, and Mary, Knockin on Heavens Door by Clapton, etc.

But the top played songs on my WMP are Southern Cross by CSN, and Lawyers, Guns and Money by Warren Zevon, both tied at 44 though Third Eye by Tool is making its way up there.
