As for me, it's 1 2. I think both of them are great. I can't tell the difference... Has anyone read The Taking? Brilliant book...

Both seem to get worse as they progress. King has become full up on himself and his books bloated as a result, while Koontz's books almost all follow a familiar pattern that scuttles originality. Plus I think he makes use of ghost writers.
If you want good horror writing that resonates to this day, read some of H.P Lovecraft's works.

Anne Rice is a whore, and should be shot repeatedly with crossbows. As for whoever is the better writer, I'd have to say King, but that's only because I read more of his stuff. However, I do agree with Chikyota in that Lovecraft, and in a way Dereleth surpass all horror writers still.
Who the heck are these people anyway? Since I've never heard of them, they can't be terribly important, but I'd just like to know in any case. :)
