I will be leaving in september with a friend of mine for one final fling of irresponcibility before adulthood. We'll fly our of washington DC into London, and travel all around the continent as log and far as our money will take us, haveing wacky advetures and in general having a good ol' time. Also, apreciating culture and history.

As many of you here on the forums live over there, I figured it might be interesting to meet some of you in person, if you are willing. Maby get lunch, or a cup of tea, or whatever. I'm not asking anyone to take us into their homes, just maby talk for a bit at a cafe, as I'm ganna be in your area anyway, and maby give some advice, as a local to some tourists.

I'm starting out in London, but after that, all of England, Holland, Belgum, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, France, and Ireland is fair game.

Anyone interested?

Also, general advice as to your personal area is apreciated, as well

Well, since no Scandinavian country is mentioned, I'm off the hook.

I have two pieces of advice for you, though:

Do not bring white socks with you. If you do, you'll be tempted to wear them, and wearing them you'll look like American tourists. And that's not good.

Take your shoes off when entering someone's home. I've noticed some Americans not having gotten the memo on that one.

When you say all of England, do you mean up north too? If so, you could always meet up with our famous Manchester NSers... There's a lot about the city that people down south (who may try to put you off) don't know about it. I'd be happy to tell you anything you needed to know if you're coming this far up. I moved out of the city few years back and now I live in a nearish village.

If, after you've done the rest of the UK, you go south out of London to get a boat over to France or Belgium make sure you go via Rochester and Canterbury on the old pilgrims way.
It's old and cool. will give you a break after all the clubbing up north :p

I shall most certainly do that. I'll find me a computer, come on forum, and get in touch with you.

Cheap flight into Inverness then go south (after you've seen the loch ness monster  ) to Aberdeen, Sterling, Edinburg then cross to Glasgow and south back to Manchester and Liverpool. Easy day out. :p

Made my plane reservations today. I'll be arriving at London Hethrow Airport on Sept 16th. A few days after that, I'll be going up to Manchester.

Any Londoners out there willing to show me around? Or Manchester-ers, for that matter?
