Well, making it a smart spider and integrating it into to Konq, which is just awesome, would be the hard part. But I did a kludge proof of concept, tuned it up a little, and let it run. One The Daily Show later (my standard unit of time) 200 megs and ~10,000 non-garbage files. And there was a HUGE amount of room for improvement. All I was really testing for was whether or not sites would be smart and refuse the connection.

Ultimately, I decided that while an interesting problem and an interesting vision of a solution, the shear volume and accessability of porn out there renders it a curiosity at best. And tgp crap is really just the lowest of the low hanging fruit anyway.

Well, making it a smart spider and integrating it into to Konq, which is just awesome, would be the hard part. But I did a kludge proof of concept, tuned it up a little, and let it run. One The Daily Show later (my standard unit of time) 200 megs and ~10,000 non-garbage files. And there was a HUGE amount of room for improvement. All I was really testing for was whether or not sites would be smart and refuse the connection.

Ultimately, I decided that while an interesting problem and an interesting vision of a solution, the shear volume and accessability of porn out there renders it a curiosity at best. And tgp crap is really just the lowest of the low hanging fruit anyway.

Well, under the terms that I'd have to write the plugin, at least as I understand them, I'd have to give the source away. Which would be fine anyway. The problem is, porn wise, that you can just go to any tgp site as is, and with only a little bit of frustration get all the porn you can use. (I would however suggest newsgroups or getting into one of those guy who knows a guy ftp site rings). Even if it did everything I envisioned it to, it's so easy to get all the porn one could use, even if it was popular (which it would never be), the time I spent writting and debugging it (the concieving it is free. By my estimation everyone has about one such 'brilliant invention" a day) would never be returned by the software. So my time is probably better spent doing something more intelligent/practical or lobbying someone else to pursue something I lack the skill to realize. If you think my posts are poorly written, you should see my code. The last time I printed a program out on a line printer it came out in crayon.

Everyone has their brilliant ideas, the trouble is taking the leap assuming the risk, making the commitment, and selling people on financing it.

Well, the first is legal, I think, it's just long debated on whether there exists any actual crimes being committed in any of them, or whether they're just very well staged. Beastiality laws are in place in some areas of the world, and lacking in the others, but it seems more acceptable to talk about it than other forms of porn, for whatever strange reason.
