[QUOTE='[NS]Canada City']Damn....

This beats me. I can't work it out.

Aside from the apparent stupidity of pulling the same trick in the same way only two weeks after the last lot, we have FOUR bombs that ALL fail to go off. All at once.

How the BLAZES do you do that? I mean, that HAD to be deliberate. I can't imagine how four bombs, carried and triggered independently, could all have failed unless a) they weren't meant to go off (but then why bother?), or b) they were all put together by the same person, who is not the same person that built the last four, and who obviously isn't all that smart.

July 7th we said "Is that all you've got?"

Now we say "Just a normal day". Seemed like an unorganised copycat to me. Barely stopped watching the cricket to take note of this one. Bit of an embarassment really.

If it was something like TATP, the type of explosive that the palestinians use, what was left of the batch could quite literally have "gone bad". That's the price you pay when mixing explosives in your bathtub.

Addendum - This was also the type of explosive that the "shoe bomber" tried to detonate on the airplane, but it didn't go off there either.

P.S. - This fact is already up at Wiki.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TATP

Acetone peroxide (triacetone triperoxide, peroxyacetone, TATP) is an organic peroxide. It is a high explosive that can be made from common household items: sulphuric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and acetone. Other strong acids such as hydrochloric acid may also be used to catalyse the reaction. Since its precursors are readily available, it is commonly used by amateur chemists and explosive makers, often for detonators, and is sometimes used in terrorist attacks, for example in the West Bank area. Also perhaps at the 7 July 2005 London bombings.

The 100 grammes (4 ounces) of PETN high explosive in each of shoe bomber Richard Reid's sneakers was surrounded by a detonator consisting of homemade TATP. [1]

Haha. I love it.

British security undermined by dumbasses. The dumbasses couldn't even get the bombs to go off. Everyone wins, except the dumbasses. Who will probably get their asses beat by some really nasty men.

This quote from Henry V sprang to mind during these attacks, Just replace the King of France with the terroist leaders, and the Dauphin with the cowards, sorry, terrorists.

EXETER ....bids you then resign
Your crown and kingdom, indirectly held
From him the native and true challenger.
KING OF FRANCE Or else what follows?
EXETER Bloody constraint; for if you hide the crown
Even in your hearts, there will he rake for it:
Therefore in fierce tempest is he coming,
In thunder and in earthquake, like a Jove,
That, if requiring fail, he will compel;
And bids you, in the bowels of the Lord,
Deliver up the crown, and to take mercy
On the poor souls for whom this hungry war
Opens his vasty jaws; and on your head
Turning the widows' tears, the orphans' cries
The dead men's blood, the pining maidens groans,
For husbands, fathers and betrothed lovers,
That shall be swallow'd in this controversy.
This is his claim, his threatening and my message;
Unless the Dauphin be in presence here,
To whom expressly I bring greeting too.
KING OF FRANCE For us, we will consider of this further:
To-morrow shall you bear our full intent
Back to our brother England.
DAUPHIN For the Dauphin,
I stand here for him: what to him from England?
EXETER Scorn and defiance; slight regard, contempt,
And any thing that may not misbecome
The mighty sender, doth he prize you at...

Eyewitness statements from the BBC.
"Schoolchildren in their uniforms are walking home from school looking curiously at what is going on and cars are going past. There is no sense of panic."
"In the last five minutes some of the main roads have been reopened so, as far as everyday life goes, things are starting to get back to normal"
"In front of me there are about a dozen police officers ready to respond, but at the moment things are calm"

I felt i should post these as I saw a US new report stating "Widespread panic" in London. This is sooo far from the truth, especially for anyone over 30 who lived through the IRA attacks.

As an aside, if you were one that donated to that cause how do you feel about this one? or the 9/11 attacks.

It's actually quite common. The explosive they use, TATP, is so unstable it can go off from a mere cough. It is sensitive to temperature changes, impact, friction- you name it. So the terrorists usually mix it with other substances to make it safer to transport. But if you overdo the mix, the explosive won't detonate at all- which is what happened in London in the recent "copycat" attack.

Re TATP:

Thanks for that info. I didn't know to look at Wiki - but then I'm not building bombs!

You'd think someone who took it all so SERIOUSLY would have a glance through "Bomb-Making for Dummies" before setting out. Maybe they just couldn't find anyone to read it to them...

:rolleyes:

Pathetic copycat. If there was a professional bomb-maker involved they'd have gone off.

One possibility is that it was a completely faulty batch of whatever explosive they were using. Presuming it's home made, not smuggled in, you have VERY little allowance to test it. So, they just assumed, nay hoped, it would work, which, seemingly, it didn't.
