It might be a good idea to tell us what your OS is...

You need Windows XP Professional. Home edition wont do. Heres a link that explains how to do it:

http://www.practicalpc.co.uk/computing/windows/xpencrypt1.htm

If you do not have Windows XP Professional then you will need a third party encryption utility such as Bestcrypt or PGP. NTFS encryption is good enough to keep the vast majority of people from looking at your files, but if you are worried about an agency with lots of resources getting a hold of your files (ie. a powerful corporation wanting to steal your trade secrets or a government agency seeking evidence) you will need more serious encryption such as Bestcrypt, PGP, or Drivecrypt.

Thank you :)

I am a MI5 agent and my laptop keeps getting lost I thought if I passworded the folders I will be safe when I lose this one. :D

I'm still more likely to believe "I want to hide my porn" before "I'm an agent in national security and I can't use computers."

And who involved in security would really try and secure anything of importance with something bundled with windows xp?

MI5 ?

I doubt the laptop(S) they lost on trains and stuff was that protected, well it would seem that way if they are stupid enough to leave them in public !

Meh. Just change the file extension on the files and hide them in a subdirectory of MS-Word or some other program. Anyone who comes across them will have no idea they're not data files. When you want to look at your pics, change the extensions back.

Of course, now that I have my own computer, I just set up a password for Windows. :p
