Canada is now officially the fourth country to sanction same-sex marriage.

Good job senators.

Not so fast, I just looked out my window and the sky fell. The town is nearly unpopulated and those remaining who aren't now homosexual are marrying domesticated animals and fetuses. I've also received reports of churches all across the country left with the awkward decision of how to handle gay marriages while not offending one group in favour of another. Boo flippin' hoo!

I think so. But I have to point out that Germany legalised same-sex civil unions with the same effective rights as marriages.
That's because in Germany, state and religion are seperated and the state only hands out civil unions to begin with ;)

Erm... sorry to crush your dreams, but Germany does not do that.
The German state has marriage officially recognized. A straight couple goes to the town hall or wherever, and gets married, and subsequently enjoys all kinds of financial advantages, and also is allowed to adopt hellspawn, if they want.
Anyone can sign up for a civil union (called Eingetragene Lebenspartnerschaft, one of the most cumbersome terms for them I have ever heard), no matter if a it's a same-sex or different-sex couple. They are given some benefits of marriage (hospital visitation rights, inheritance, etc.), but have not the same status when it comes to taxes or, heaven forbid, adoption.
The countries which hand out civil unions which have an equal status compared to traditional marriages are the Scandinavian countries, whch only haven't (yet) come around to call those civil unions marriages, or vice versa.

Which is why Canada&Co. absolutely rule, Sweden&Co. still rock and Germany et al. are on the border of rocking, imo.

I agree. There's a difference between recognition (which is what has been done in Canada), and sanction in which you must be married "in this way" to receive rights.

Very important question, as it will happen, and has been with European homosexual couples going to Holland to have a ceremony for a long time - but no other countries, once they've got back, have accepted their newlywed status. It's just a way of having a nice ceremony like any heterosexual couple.

I live in Massachusetts. I don't have to go anywhere. :D

And no. I believe a straight couple from Canada would have to apply for a marriage license if they emigrated to the US. I don't think marriage licenses transcend national boundaries.

If you know the French tongue, you could get a nice job around here.

Otherwise, it isn't really a requirement to learn the language. Yes, you do get extra points for it.

Look at the bright side: If you learn french, you can move to Quebec. Rent is cheap there.

I didn't have to immigrate so I am completely clueless when it comes to the requirements to be allowed to immigrate. I think your best bet is to find a long-lost yet close relative. That must be worth a few points on the entry form.

I love ignorance. First, I was under the impression that the decision wasn't based on sin, since we're all sinners. Second, how does God look on people who openly wish for, and rejoice over, people going to hell? I know the answer to that and I hope you learn the error of your ways.
