*the place was empty and the lights were all out, but the door was unlocked when he tried it. he walked inside, pausing a minute or two to let his eyes adjust to the darkness. he turned slowly, taking the whole place in again. a large "disco" glitter ball hung from the ceiling...he thought it an odd thing to have in a book store. but it sparked something in his mind...a memory? a vision? an omen?*

*he replaced the book he had borrowed earlier in the day and poured himself a cup of coffee. then, he settled into a comfy chair and stared into the darkness...waiting for something. but for what, he did not know*

*he sat on the floor of the makeshift vault, reading by flashlight. the front door had been unlocked once again, so he'd continued his explorations into the back rooms of the store. after an exhaustive search, turning up nothing, he accidently stumbled onto a locked door with a sign on it reading Janitor's Closet. the door was locked, but he always carried tools to remedy these sorts of things. he soon opened the door to what was a huge storage room of some sort. inside he found hand written receipts and ledgers and other accounts of all the goings-on from the day the original ~FFF~ opened so many years ago*

*it was his first good lead. he sat on the floor, still reading, still searching for what he felt would be there...should be there...somewhere in the mountain of paper*

*Wanders around the shelves... stops to open a large Tome... the Unabridge Webster's Dictionary. as soon as the cover is opened, a large snake-like critter leaps out... wrapping itself around his neck... struggling to get the thing off, he slams a hardcover "how things work" repeatedly on the things 'head' finally, it lays twitching on the floor... it's death throes causing several books to fall then once more all is still. Ju tosses the book/weapon aside.*

dammit... I hate Bookworms.

*he found bits and pieces of things he hoped he might find. someone called Sparren had been..perhaps still was...the owner of this establishment. he hadn't found a document proclaiming absolute ownership of the place. there were a few sketchy accounts of past employees...or at least part-time employees...the name Troon appeared in many accounts...*

*too much to make sense of this evening...though one name in particular did hold his interest*
