Do you like cats

Well, of course I do. I have three of them.
I have two now: a Sealpoint Ragdoll named Skuttles ( a variant of the Hymilayan, but without the pub nose ), who is my best friend and has been with me since 1997; and a recent arrival by name of Einstein, an orange and white tiger-stripe American shorthair. I "inherited" both of them from my granchildren. :)

My Sealpoint Ragdoll cat is about as loyal as any animal I have ever known, and Sturm-Ruger guards my property quite well. :D

I had a cat for most of my life until he died (of old age) last year, but I always prefered my dogs. They're just more responsive.

Yes, nobody gets past bandit :gundge:. Loyal, well, every time I go skating, guess who's there, Adrianna and Mika of course.

Cats groom themselves daily and bury theit sh*t, which makes them cleaner. Dogs may be taught not to sh*t on their owner's property, but will sh*t on other people's land.

One time, I caught my neighbore's dog wandering into my garden for a sh*t. He was caught right in the act, and I beat with a shovel it! Damn dog! Now if it's my dog, I'd probably let it roam freely to find a toilet outside my own yard.

In Hong Kong, cats are toilet trained to flush their sh*t as 40-storey highrises of a concrete jungle have no available soft soil as their lavatory.

The HK lifestyle's too busy and the apartments are too cramped to have them. There's also no suitable places to bury them.

Um ... use a pooper-scooper and flush the poop down the toliet. When you empty the entire litter box ( which you MUST do on occasion! ), pour the contents into a sturdy plastic bag and toss out with the rest of the trash. Yes? :)

The apartments are too cramped to afford the space for cat sh*t or the tray. With such a stressful lifestyle, those that can afford cats expect anything but handling their sh*t.

Define "mature." If anyone doesn't like the way I phrase things or the fact that I use emoticons, they don't have to read my posts ... or reply to them.

Feral cats rank amongst the possums and rabbits that destroy the NZ environment. Possums and rabbits devour so much of our native plants but cats have a greater appetite than possums when it comes to killing native birds.

cats, cane toads, rabbits and goats are probably the worst in Australia.

Possums are native in Australia so the ecosystem is balanced for them...

I have always far prefered cats over dogs and currrently own two of them. One is just an average striped tabby with a sweet temper, and the other is a black devil cat that adores hiding under the stairs so he can attack the legs of anyone using them.

They are both desexed and both kept in at night to minimise impact on the native animals, not that there are many native animals in the middle of Brisbane.

Goats, wild pigs and deer are also problematic, but never as much as the rabbit. They even threaten the pastural farming economy by competing with lifestock for grazing.

The damn buggers are so robotic, you take your .22 and pop one. The rest would run away, then for a short while return to graze normally. Rabbits are like long-eared rats.

Heh. My grandfather would put me to work on a farm if he could. He's an ornery old guy who's rough around the edges and loves to play jokes but works his ass off for his loved ones.

He was in the Navy during WWII, but I suspect that we're way off topic now, so I'll just stop there. :)

If you said USMC instead of Navy, I wonder if he was one of those commandoes that walked past my other grandfathers village at night after hitting some Jap targets.

Cats are alright. However, I've always had bad experiences with them...

...They always seem to run off and die on me. My first cat liked to go around the neighborhood, and one day, it got in a fight with a huge, white Persian cat. Needless to say, my cat didn't win. It died about two days after.

My last cat had problems we didn't know about when we bought it. Some stomach thing... We gave it back to the pet store, so I dunno if it died or not.

I've got one cat aptly named Rocket. That's her, right here (http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b24/cabrawest/.Rakete.jpg)
She's a bit of a fierce one really, but once you've properly introduced yourself (preferably by bribing her with food, goat's cheese if you have any), she can be quite attached and affectionate.
Otherwise this cat will try to hunt down everything in the neighbourhood, I saw her trying to pound on a duck the other day. That was ONE surprised duck, I can tell you :D

Well, I think cats are hellspawn, filled with evil intentions and solely working for their own, selfish cause, doing everything it needs to have their wishes fulfilled, even if it is at the cost of another being.

Which is exactly why I like them so much I 'own' two myself.

I have found cats to be wiser than humans...after all, my cat sits around waiting to be fed and scratched, and if she doesn't get what she wants, she lets out a multi-syllable meow. She also bites and gets away with it, and she sleeps on nice fluffy pillows. She's a beautiful black and white tuxedo longhair who, unfortunately, was abused by her first family. She lived with my mom for a year and a half before my mom gave her to me.

And of course, if my cat's smart, my dog must be a genius, since she destroys everything, runs around like a maniac, chews on fingers and noses, barks like a goofball, and antagonizes the cat, and she always looks cute doing it. Of course, then again she has the advantage of being a Yorkie, so that explains the cuteness factor.

I don't know about that! They are capable of killing wildlife but they don't "destroy the environment". And they don't even kill wildlife if they have responsible owners. I live in Australia and have two cats and neither of them have ever killed anything larger than a fly... and maybe a few computer cords!

As for cats being unresponsive, grumpy or not loyal, my two Tonkinese (hence my name) are so responsive and friendly that it amazes me. They meet me at the door when I get home from work and chat about their day. One is the cuddliest animal that I have ever encountered and the other plays fetch better than any dog - she brings the item back every time and there's no wrestling to get it from her for the next throw.

Just for fun, it should be noted that John Ashcroft, former "Attorney General" and person who lost a candidacy in a race with a DEAD guy, is afraid of calico cats. Something to do with his interpretation of the presence of evil/"devil". Not very sound judgment, IMHO.
