All things considered (2.4gb Storage, Search Capabilities, Labels, etc.) can anyone say that they know a better email service than Google Email?

It isnt an objective question, its a matter of opinion. For my needs Yahoo is far superior. For your needs gmail might be better.

Question - with Gmail when you "Delete" a message, it is deleted or left on the server for the FBI or CIA to look at later?

If you have such serious security concerns, wouldnt it be more prudent to use encryption rather than wonder about which servers can be trusted?

Email is never deleted. Once you've sent it, it is always going to be somewhere. Probably since you are asking these questions, most of yours are now in the basement at Ft. Meade.

A mail system where "delete" does not mean destroy isn't one I want to use.
You just accumulate for mail which is probably why you need 2.4Gb.

Buy your own webspace with e-mail accounts and use a decent mail program :D Virtually unlimited everything. :D

If not that, then GMail is best...

I am aware of there's always a copy of your emails somewhere in the world since it has to be shunted around the world via servers.

It's a lot more complex than that.

First, the email gets sent to an alternate server. Then, it's printed out. A machine lights a candle, which burns a rope, that drops a slice of cheese in front of a mouse. The mouse runs on a wheel, which turns a gear, connected to a clamp that grabs the email and carries it to a monkey. Then, a tiger is released (with a computerized timer to make sure it's released exactly when necessary) and the tiger chases the monkey down a hall, into a small crawlspace, which the monkey leaps into and narrowly escapes.

From there, a man grabs the email from the monkey, reads it, then butters it lightly, with a pinch of salt, and eats it.

I like my Cavtel with my own Exchange Server; so realistically; I have about 240GB of storage.... So; nothing beats it ;)

BTW, the email client Mozilla Thunderbird kicks ass with Gmail. Anyone that has Gmail should get it.

That's funny!

But for those who do have concerns about Gmail, or are curious why one should consider before using, read this:

http://www.google-watch.org/gmail.html

For conspiracy fans, read the link "Mark Rasch" at the bottom of page.

There is some practical consideration to this if you're dealing with business or confidential matters. I won't use it for work, nor do I need the storage.

My personal view is that ideally all emails would be encrypted since they are the equivalent of sending a postcard through the mail. Anyone can read them.
