What's your opinion of the EPA?
It seems that many environmentalists, myself included, aren't that fond of the EPA. They see it as a corrupt institution which has become nothing more than an extension of corporations, and worse still, for the past half decade, the Bush administration. I'm starting this thread to prompt the collection of evidence for or contrary to the aforementioned claim.

how about a more neutral-ish option(or two...)?

Yah. I forgot to put that option. I'm sorry.
Although I wouldn't call it neutralish, but "I don't know."
Basically, I'm assuming that you have a slight opinion one way or another.
Besides, I was planning on the thread being more significant, as I'd like to be proven wrong [and ergo not feel so pessimistic].

I still don't understand what the EPA is all about...
It's the Environmental Protection Agency... they're supposed to be the ones making sure people don't abuse the environment, and by extension, the people who recieve resources from it.

Virginia's Chesapeake Bay Commission is far more powerfull than the EPA...
They, at least, have the power to shut business down; and their dominion extends as far as any waterway which empties into the Chesapeake (Including the James, Elizabeth, York and Potomac rivers)

I agree. Much like the FDA they have been siding with corporations more than they have of the public that government is supposed to be protecting from harmful products. One of the many reasons why the US government needs some serious reform.

As a non-environmentalist, I have a negative opinion of the EPA just like I have a negative opinion of environmentalists and their movement in general.

I'm not exactly a tree hugger, but it is clear that the EPA is allowing companies to get away with murder in their emissions. I live in northwest ohio and lemme tell you, it's kinda nasty to see the big smog streak blowing down from detroit when the wind is going south.
