Oh, is that like that Private who was captured after her convoy was ambushed?
Who fought valiantly, killed many enemies, was wounded but restisted to the last and was captured?
Then was mistreated horribly by the evil Iraqi savages before being freed by our boys in a heroic battle against the savages, who were all killed?

Is it just me or does that story not make sense. It says he was shot by the sniper and then he track down the now wounded sniper. maybe some important details are missing.

Yeah, that story is bull crap. The girl hid in the truck, while the men with her were killed or captured trying to protect her. She didn’t fire a single bullet in resistance. War hero, yeah right.

Wanna know what pisses me off?

There were TWO women captured then released.

The second one didn't get on the news...

She was Black.

Dominican to be exact

in all fairness there were a few difference; she was taken with a larger group of prisoners, not on her own and was rescued later. and she was a sargent or a corperal, not a private

right so they should have the details in teh story where they say "The batallion returned fire and wounded the sniper."

It almost seems like you are refusign to acknowledge my simple point.

Still, it bugs my goat.

Re the topic:

That soldier getting up that quick after a taking a shot to the chest, then taking a scan of the area before taking cover... well he's either incredibly brave or had his senses well scrambled by the fall he took.

Oh and why didn't the ambusher take a second pot shot when the soldier stood back up instead of saying 'God is Great!' a few more times?

And why was he trying to snipe with a rifle that couldn't even incapacitate a man in kevlar, let alone kill him. Someone really hit this guy with the idiot stick.

No wonder he got captured!

An army is not a single unit, nor a group of single units, but a unified and coordinated mass of single units. Alone, this man would most likely have died in short order. With his company to support him he did not. And yet his company was rendered faceless, while he got some spotlight.

I think it's an obvious inference that fire was returned, since they do take the trouble to mention that the sniper was wounded y'know.

If they were trying to make more of this situation they'd be saying 'the downed man then engaged and captured the sniper', which is technically correct but does obfuscate by not mentioning he was with a squad when he did so.

I wouldn't say this act was Heroic though (Try reading about the UK solider who was awarded the Victoria Cross(!) in Iraq a few months ago, that's a Hero), this guy just got lucky because he was shot at by an idiot (See my post above), and then having survived, he did his job.

these guys arn't the brightest and best of the arab world, thats why they kill so many more innocent Iraqi civilians than American soldiers

on more than one occasion they're fired anti-aircraft missiles with ceilings in the thousands of feet at US transport aircraft that were half of a mile up
