Harry Potter
The people who are against these new Harry Potter book don't make sense. The book is completely fiction, it's opening children's minds to fantasy and reading, their aren't any real spells of witchcraft in there, and definitely not any references to being anti-bible. Otherwise, if you're going to ban Harry Potter, then why don't you just ban all fantasy that has magic in it. How stupd is that?
Yeah It's stupid, why don't they ban santa and the tooth fairy, too?

blame the catholic bulldog, he is no help. condemning it after his predecessor said it was ok and contained good values
Harry Potter has turned millions of children on to reading in an era of I-Pods and billion dollar advertising. If supporting that is bad, I've got some serious explaining to do when I reach The Big Guy.
If anything the book is something Christians should be supporting, there are themes and morals in the book that are supported by all forms of Christianity, some evangelists even think Harry is a christ figure.

I love the fundie nuts who decry Harry Potter as "evil" and "satanic".
It's obvious that not a one of them has read or understood the books. Rowling constantly demonstrates that love is the greatest power of all. What idea could be more christian than a theme of the power of love? After all... Is that not the lesson Jesus taught?
Or maybe my agnostisism is speaking = /.

Quite pointless to say its Satanic and all that, I personally love the books, and the movies...... I mean, its a good story How can you Not understand life from story? Some religious people say they are so far down and believe in this so much yadda yadda yadda and all they do is use it for an excuse to complain at times.... I dont find that very good at all.... The books teach many things Cheers!

All of these are factual. That said, "witchcraft" that is featured in Harry Potter has little to do with the superstitions ripe in the middle ages.
5. Harry Potter gets rewarded for killing people 5. Given
Bullcrap
6. Harry Potter gets rewarded for breaking rules 6. Given
Also disengenuous. When Harry does break the rules, he does so for a good reason. He also receives a number of punishments for his breaking of the rules.
7. Harry Potter<>Good behavior 7. Contradiction if he taught good behavior
WTF? ... That's absolute nonsense. Is there something more good then being willing to sacrifice your life for others? For fighting to defend people, even when you barely know them? (Case in point; Ginny Weasley).

I happen to be religious. I’m one of those, everything in the NT is applicable, and the OT should be taken with a grain of salt, since it’s the old law. That said, I love the books, despite them being below my normal reading level, and I don’t see anything particular evil or antichristian about it. I mean the characters celebrate Christmas, without cynicism .

The curious thing is... Christians DON'T object to the Bible... which has witchcraft (Endor, priests of Egypt, etc) aplenty... and violence, incest, prostitution, murder, rape, homosexuality, blasphemy... you name it.

A few things 'bout Harry Potter that I dislike:
ONE - Morons in charge of wizardy and stupid names
TWO - Godmoding.
One is the Ministry of Magic. I mean, do they get their budget from Tony Blaire or do they just leech off of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (or whatever). And how about the whole "We keep seperate from the world becuase they would be begging for help, and we are too lazy arsed to do anything, despite being all good and all." Of course, if the world found out 'bout this, they would go nuts, and prolly nuke the hell out of hogwarts and co. And Deatheaters is the dumbest name for the evil faction ever.
Two is harry just inventing some new uber-skill, then Volde doing the same. Plus the whole magical anti-modern tech sheild around Hogwarts.
And wouldn't the Taxmen notice that one heck of a lot of people are paying in galleons? or do they Godmod out of that.

Its actually not that bad though1) The way I see it (the MM) is as yet another branch of the huge British government, allotted its funds when needed, but no-one can remember who is in charge of it, where it is, or what it does, and are just too lazy to change it.
Or alternately, what does it need funding for? Its wizards can make all the money they need out of lead or something.
And "Death Eaters" is rather a stupid name, but I suppose coming up with the Voldemort-Riddle anagram and the name "Voldemort" (= "Theft-of-Death" in French) expended all her energy.
2) Obviously since Harry = Voldemort (two sides of the same person?) it works that way. And probably many wizards have ordinary jobs that allow them to earn the ordinary pounds and shillings and whatnot.
