Basically, I've just had this idea to help people who haven't been around here for long.
In a fashion similar to many Wikis out there, I hope people will contribute posts that describe a little about NS forums and the history, like certain etiquette rules, posters past who are still discussed (i.e The Red Arrow, or whatever his name was) posters present who contribute daily and are quite infamous i.e Drunk Commies Deleted et cetera. Sorry if it's been done before.
Here's a simple one to start off:
Remember, don't abuse smilies. Too many is an offense known as "smilie spam", and can get you in trouble. The :gundge: :sniper: :mp5: and :upyours: are especially unpopular. However, good use of the smilie can change the context of the sentence i.e:
Sentence 1: I'm going to kill you.
Sentence 2: I'm going to kill you :D .
Sentence 1 can be interpreted as a direct threat, with unwanted consequences. Sentence 2, on the other hand, is most likely a joke sentence, and unlikely to offend.

I take it that's a bad thing?
Well, what's worse, one big stupid thread to educate the rookies, or have said rookies interupt every thread with questions that can be answered here?

Here's another contribution:
When a thread consists mainly of the word "bump", it means the someone wants the thread back at the top of the list.
For example:
Bump.

^^^bump!

another thing to do is to tag it. some use or tags to emphesis the fact that they are joking or not serious.

Here is an actual fucking helpful hint: it is possible to adblock these smilies with Firefox and the Adblock plugin. Having just done so, from now on I will just see the following -
The and are especially unpopular.
Ah, that is so much better.
Another hint: Read this thread. Very thoroughly. (Noble Men, that goes for you too. :) )

You could just list famous trolls or posters.
