Im about to be leaving to go shopping now, so i'll leave you guys with this thought, and perhaps when I come back, they will be some discussion on it:

176,000 Eastern European Immigrants have come into Britain since they joine dthe EU last year. they all have to pay taxes to the sate, and gues how many are claiming benefits?

Just 40.

Yeah, kinda goes to show that anti-immigration shitstirring is just thinly-veiled xenophobia.

Remember everyone, without immigrant labour the economy would be fucked!

The problem is that the media never reports on the immigrants who work 12 hours a day in miserable jobs for crappy wages just to scrape a living, it doesn't make such a good story.

It's unfortunate, but immigrants often have no kind of education or training. They have to work those jobs and they do them very well; and then try to improve themselves so that they and their children will have hope for a better life than their own.

I credit them for stepping up to do the work others won't touch. I sincerely hope they can move above their current state and succeed, and would gladly support doing what we can to facilitate that.

Like everything else immigration has pros and cons. You may get cheap labor, but it drives wages down a bit. You may get alot of good people, but you may also get a handfull of terrorist vermin. Each nation has to do a cost/benefit analysis and decide what immigration policy works best for it's people.

Legal and documented immigration/visas that the INS actually keeps an eye on (as opposed to just forgetting like they did with the 9/11 hijackers' student visas) is the only way people should be allowed to enter and exit the US.

Really I know a GI Specialist Surgeon who works at Wal-Mart because the Health system will not accept her credentials.

I agree that legal immigration only should be permitted and illegal immigration should be prevented. That's the only way that there can be any controls over how many people can enter the country. It also helps stop terrorists from comming in.

Well, that's ridiculous. If the credentials are suspect, have them tested based upon American standards and recertify them. It's not fair to just reject a person without proof of their skill.

We can't waste people because of suspect credentials unless they are proven to be actually incapable of doing the job.

We barely caught those Iraqis a few weeks back; personally I think we need to put small detachments troops on the border to keep an eye out for them; they'd be better at identifying and searching for weapons, and could defend better than the border patrol against an attack.

The border patrol needs to be expanded significantly, and we need walls all along the border as well. I'd pay a small tax increase to cover it.

Why not just place national guard installations along the border. Let national guard guys arrest and deport anyone crossing illegaly.

Don't be stupid! These paedophilic rapist bastards come to our country and viciously attack people with baseball bats, knives and AIDS until they hand over their jobs! Open your eyes to the scourge of immigration by reading the Daily Mail immediately!

And yes, the numbers speak very much for themselves - as does the effect of immigration throughout history.

if the immigrants are willing to work, to contribute, as opposed to living off the work of others, then yeah it's great.

those numbers you showed are rather impressive.

I have a complicated view on national immigration, but I myself see no problem in immigration. As El Porro, without immigrants the economy would be harmed.

I think that would work, because the national guard is the national guard, and we need to have them defending our borders, north and south.
The installations would be economically helpful as well.

Could not we use the services of private firms? They would be more economical than using our national forces to defend boarders.

Yeah, many of them trafficked by pimps to serve as prostitutes against their will. Illegal immigration is swell.

Illegal Immigration is what needs to be focused on. If we stopped being so populist and anti-immigrant, then we could focus on stopping illegal immigration (Which could be stopped if we just loosened immigration laws a bit) and the people trafficing that goes on out of sight, I bet mthis category makes up more than 60% of illegal immigration, and because it's not as visible as the Polish guy serving you at KFC or driving your Bus, people don't complain about it.

Interesting also.
Linky link (http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=260)

2003 stats show 513,000 people migrating to the Uk from the EU
BUT
362,000 left the UK to go to the EU.
The stats must be similar for last year so more people do arrive but a great many leave.
As long as there's space and jobs they're welcome. Many of my friends come from Europe to live here. They are all taught English in school. It's harder for us to leave the UK when we can just manage to discuss Jean-jaques school books. (not something I ever found useful in France)

First Schweinebacke was being ironic

Second the UK is made up of immegrants. From the pre-roman times people have come here from all over the world.
Saxons,
Danes,
Angles,
French,
Normans,
Italians
Ahhhh the lis goes on for ever and I'm too lazy to do it.
Soz.

Yeah, sorry. I read "effect" in a positive way 'cos that how I see it. I sort of spun it myself without thinking he might mean a negative conatation.
We'll have to wait and see.
