Like history? Like roleplaying?

The general forums may or may not be the best place to see if there are any big Role players, as most general stays out of the NS RP threads and vice versa...

However, if you like world history, and if you like role playing...[--snipped--] is your chance to role play as a 19th century empire.

The best part is that the game is just starting and there are a few power empires left to choose from, as well as some smaller, but (in my opinion) more fun empires. The year is 1800...

So, if you enjoy running the Internal affairs of your NS nation, and enjoy chatting on general, but simply aren't interested in the overcrowded (and unrealistic) NS RP scene, then you should definitely check out Earth Imperialism.

So far as I know, all of us still spend quite a bit of time in NS General forums (as we don't really discuss anything not concerning EI at the EI forums), but we still have a great time running our 19th century empires...and without committing too much time to it...

If you've got any questions/comments, about the game, I'll be happy to keep an eye on this thread and answer them to the best of my ability, but the EI forums have just a few threads that pretty much outline all the rules and explain how to play.

Sweeden, Norway, Finland, Switzerland (Helvatia), and Portugal, in addition to numerous German, Italian and Baltic states (these places weren't unified in 1800) are all the available states in Europe. There are also available nations to pick from in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia (although Japan and China are already being played).

Additionally, if you don't like any of the current options, you can RP a rebellion out of a colony of a large empire (Canada, Brazil are probably two very good examples of where a RPed rebellion would go over very well).

Hmm, the game is pretty much free-form RP just like how the Nation-states RPing works...but there are some rules about alliances to prevent forming major power-blocks from forming, including some penalties based on certain aspects of countries to try keeping the alliances somewhat realistic...aside from that there aren't really any real rules (besides you being active in order to keep your nation), but if someone seems to be god-modding and using really weird logistics, it is usually handled pretty well if it is just brought to the attention of the admins who normally will fix it pretty easily.

Looks cool! What nations are taken?
Greater Googlia

Most of the major nations are selected, however there are still some important nations that do not have players yet, in addition, there are some smaller, less important nations, that could still be fun...that you could select.

There are lots of mid-level nations still avalible, the Germanic States, for instance, were all combined into three larger nations for the sake of convinience and because nobody would want to play as a nation where you need a passport to lie down.
Theres some 'new' nations in Africa that formed when the European colonies broke up (Alt-history, there was a big war and most European colonies were abandoned).
Three nations that might be interesting are currently open, they are Alaska, Canada and Quebec (Canada had a civil war in which the French intervened, resulting in the nation splitting), since Alaska is in a rather good position to move in on trade in the Pacific.

By 1800 Poland had been pretty much entirely partitioned. I'd like to play, but from the map it looks like Poland is the only interesting nation left to play, were it not for the time period.
