For the past few days I have had writer's block. I usually write shory stories for my blog and friends, but lately I haven't been very imaginative. My stories are dark comedies, does anyone have any good ideas? Whoever helps me gets a cookie.

Do something on the Mexican Inquisition. Sure it's Historical Fiction, but you could possibly find a way to make it work. The Pit and the Pendulum was about the Spanish Inquisition, so why can't you make a Mexican Inquisiton comedy?

Stop thinking about your current plot and begin thinking about a new one. After a few days go back to your original plot. Maybe you've suddenly come up wtih fresh ideas!

Do I get a cookie? Chocolate chip, preferably. :p

Start writing a series. Create a universe, make it well ordered, perfectly balanced, not neccessarily peaceful, but one that makes sense.

For example, there's the Kingdom of Lanquassia, a fantasy world. There's dragons and such, which are evil, and tigers and such, which aren't evil so much as bored, bu tit all makes sense.

Then, change one of hte rules.

Suddenly, the genders of all the people in hte Kingdom are reversed.

The sky starts raining meatballs.

The sea turns to chocolate creme pudding.

A bunch of people start running around dressed in a foreign costume claiming to be the Unexpected Lanquassian Inquisition.

take a break. Forcing yourself to write is not going to help. Take a step back read an author that you haven't read before and indentify their particular style to see if you can improve your own. Best thing about writing is you can always be better

This is a great help. I like your idea about the Mexican Inquisition and Lanquassia's idea about making a series.

Everyone gets a cookie.

Gateway_Driver, it is an irritating feeling. I want to write, but I can't think of a subject. I feel lazy when I don't write.

In a forum on a random page, choose a sentence and try developing that sentence into a story?

Drop the writing for awhile and do something completely different, preferably something you've never done before; something that requires great physical effort or intense attention.

You just need to reboot. :D

I know what you mean but I don't write much but when i do its usually after a really good book. I'm mainly into fantasy. It is annoying sometimes when you realise obvious shortcomings though

If you want to write comedy I suggest reading some jokes or watching some stand up in order to get you in the laughing mood. Have a conversation with a fried where you try to make them laugh as much as possible.

The last comedy I wrote was about a Nazi commandant sending the nephew of Eichmann on a death mission to assassinate Stalin.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who only wore black dresses. She had dark hair and her skin was almost pure white, as she never went out in the sunlight.

OK, you take over. :D

Read some H.P. Lovecraft or some Poe, then read some Douglas Adams. That'll give you F'ed up dreams you can base your stories on.

Her name was Laura. This little girl had grown to be a tall, lanky young-woman. She was addicted not to heroine, like her fuck buddy, but to love which was far more deadly.

Was that too crude? :(

Not to crude, but have to change her name. Laura was my mother-in-law. No, no, don't you even go there.....
