Just thought the title would get many U.S. citizens to look at this post...
So I have been accepted into a film school in Los Angeles, CA and need to get some info from all you Americans in California or people from other states if they have any info to help me.
What does an appartment cost c.a. a month in rent?
How much does a single person spend on food and stuff like that each month?
To make things simple how much does a single person (student) spend on rent, food etc. each month. in the U.S.?

Congratulations on film school!
Unfortunately I am American but I can't really help you. I live in the geographical and ideological polar opposite of California, North Carolina, so I have no idea what the cost of living is there.
But congratulations nonetheless.

It can vary.
$900-3000 US. Depends on where you want to live.

You could contact the school as they usually have contacts for such things especially with dealing with out of country students.
Food can vary as well. A gallon of milk can be about 4 dollars. Ramon noodles can be .50 cents. ;)
I can ask a friend who lives there for better details if you like.
Congrats btw.....

Depends on where you live. I'm assuming that if you're enrolled in a film school in California, you'll be living in L.A. But even that depends on which part of L.A. you live in.
Plan on at least $900-$1000 for a single-bedroom apartment. You can probably find cheaper apartments in different places. Regardless of what folks say, you can survive in L.A. if you're willing to be creative and accept a lower standard of living (at least until you land that fat movie contract and move up to the big time ;) ).
Hey, I think I remember recommending someone (I think you) to UCLA and telling you how they supposedly have a good film school.
Was it UCLA or the other L.A. school?

The other school, it is a private school. I dont know what that means really but thats what the people at the U.S. Embassy here said it was.
It really is a great school and they have a really great faculty!!!

It will be basicly more in LA then any other part of the nation. I have heard of people living of like $40 a day and barely eating etc.

The weather will kill you eventually. I was born here 15 years ago. Still not used to this weather. ;)
Private school. Believe that means that our state of California will not pay at all for the school. Public schools (like UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, etc.) have subsized payments by the state. Though I'm not sure on that.
Cannot think of a name

It's a privately funded institution rather than a state run school like the UCs (University of California) or the CSUs (California State University). You can still get loans and aid to go to a private school, but they cost more money and don't have the same regulations. That's both a good and a bad thing, which is which depends on the individual. Sometimes it means that it is not an accredited (sp) school, in which case your degree will only hold weight if the person you're talking to is convinced it does. (Though, truth be told that's really the case no matter what...)
I'm glad to hear that you made it and will be joining us on the Sunny Side of the Street...though it's in SoCal, so it can only be so cool. The state doesn't really start kicking ass until you get up north.
You're probably going to want to do the roommate thing. Here (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/) is Craigslist-you'll get real sick of people recomending this site as the cure for what ailes you, but it is a good resource. Just click on 'rentals' in the middle top and then scan through. You might also want to click the jobs in the TV/Film/Radio section to see what kind of jobs there are for cats like us. You should be overwhelmed. Looks like a you could rent a room for @500.
Once you get there start bugging people to get on a set, once on a set start bugging people to show you what they are doing. Then go get those jobs-by bugging some more people.
Welcome, congrats and good luck!
