Heh, you know...it's kind of interesting knowing that since we had President Washington, the Presidential position is pretty much a baton passed to the next man. A baton passed since President Washington. Kind of puts everything into a much clearer perspective.

Anyway, I just wanted to say your thread read as "Rape the U.S. Presidents" to me. :D

Might i ask why you think that Buchanan was worse the Hoover. Maybe its just me but bringing in the Great Depression and then not doing a danm thing about it is hands down to worst in my book.

P.S. Wilson, Lincoln, Clinton toss up for best all deserving to 10 though

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Buchanan created the Civil War all by himself, but he certainly didn't help things by trying to accept a borderline fraudulent pro-slavery constitution from Kansas. This led to a split in the Democratic party, and paved the way for Lincoln, which in turn gave rise to succession, and therfore war. Lots of other factors here, and Hoover was a bungler, but Buchanan was more disastrous for our nation at that critical juncture.
