I am curious as to what the workings of the forum are. Post your theories on trolls, spam, flaming, newbies, debates, cycles, thread patterns, etc. If you're theories are good enough, you're a senior fellow of the IFS.

the fact that one's identity is hidden, it grants people the courage to stand up for their beliefs, especally if it's contrary to Social "Norms."

Oh...the urge to post the "Gabe's Internet Fuckwad theory"...

But seriously, this forum changes far too often to nail down simply. I've seen it go from social forum to serious policy discussion to partisan flamefest within the same week.

Yes, but at the same time provides the opportunity for spam, trolling, and flaming.Internet Anonymity is like free will; it grants the opportunity for good as well as evil.

Vetalia's Rule: Never post anything you would not say to the intended poster in person.

It is also a factor in why people choose to troll, flame, and spam. The fear of retribution is not perceived to present a hardship. If you get banned you can come back under another name ect.

It's already done. Time to write "The Philosophy of Spider Man" or something like it.

Observation on Thread Patterns I: Sex Threads always follow, and are accompanied by, threads on Religion. Religion threads are inspired by Homosexuality Threads.

Note: Perhaps the strict moral codes of religion awaken more than one person's Libertine nature.
