The Ashes are quite at home in Australia. They like the better weather. :)

Hopefully they will return to their rightful owner (England), but the Aussies seem to have hit the strapes at the right time. Hopefully England can keep up the intensity.

On another note I'd pick Thorpe over Peitersen, as Peitersen has a major flaw in his technique. Notts worked it out we when he came back to Trent Bridge and was about for a pair, so the Aussies should have no problems.

Yes I hope the MCC will finally allow us to bring them home with us. Having held them since '89, they should let the urn come back to Melbourne.

*cough* Brits: We're going to be crucified.
Aussies: Good luck crucifying us.

Which flaw do you mean?

Is it the one where he plays too far away from his body, leaving him vulnerable to chopping on?

After the bollocks on tuesday, someone needs to pull their finger out. And it is not the convicts.

Oh that, it is a vanurability however I still prefer him over thorpe as he is younger and up and coming and Thorpe will eb retiring this year.

And Pietersen doesn't seem to have the right mentality to be an effective test player (unlike Thorpe, who seems to be perfect for Test match cricket).

Don't bother to point out Adam Gilchrist in comparison to Pietersen. Gilchrist is a once in a generation player.

I haven't seen much of him (only the recent one dayers against us), but I disagree. I think he's got a really positive attitude & doesn't seem to get intimidated. He reminds me a bit of Michael Clarke with his positive, attacking, free scoring style of play. I reckon he could be a very good player for England for quite a few years to come. It'll be interesting to see.

I think Pietersen is a good player - a bit arrogant (yes, even more than some of the Aussies), if you ask me, but I don't think he'll do too well in Test matches. ODI player? Yes.

As much as it pains me to say, I hope the Australians thump England.

Might be a bit more even this time around, Aussies aren't going so well latley over there in england, but i'm sure we'll shape up before the big ones.

England squad.

Marcus Trescothick, Andrew Strauss, Michael Vaughan (capt), Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Flintoff, Geraint Jones (wkt), Ashley Giles, Matthew Hoggard, Simon Jones, Stephen Harmison, Chris Tremlett

The England top-order has been in poor form.

No early in his innings he plays across the line to ones hitting either middle or leg, making him a perfect lbw candidate.
