Latest news on the BBC:

"Police believe at least one of the suspected London bombers died in Thursday's blasts.

They said there was forensic evidence that the bomber responsible for the train explosion at Aldgate died there.

Personal documents of three suspects were also found close to the explosions suggesting all four died in the blasts."
.....

So, at this stage it looks like possible suicide bombers. Which leaves me a little ambivalent. On the one hand, obviously, there is that much less likelihood of a repeat. On the other hand, suicide bombing is a pretty horrible thing to face, and it makes it that much more difficult to play 'Spot the Bomb'.

Thoughts? Updates? (Ill-informed speculation, as always on General, welcomed.)

I read earlier today that they are searching houses in the midlands under terrorist laws. Maybe it will help to lead to who organised it.

I just watched the news on BBC2 and it claimed that the police believed that they were all suicide bombers and all born in britain. It said just this. It also claimed that they came from North Yorkshire and that there was footage of them.

I'm hearing Leeds as the locus of house raids. Which fits the Yorkshire bit (though not North), but not quite the Midlands (previous post).

How the heck do they always find personl documents at the scene of the crime when things like this should have burned up in the blast ?

I live in West Yorkshire and can confirm that a number of houses were raided in and around the area.

I know of 2 in Leeds near the Elland Rd Football stadium, and 1 in Dewsbury.

ALSO; A number of suspicious packages have been blown up under controlled conditions in and around West Yorkshire and Huddersfield. A road was closed in Shelley, Huddersfield as the Royal Logistical Corps - Bomb Disposal Unit raced past me whilst I was on the bus.
