This thread is basically for all those who have no knowledge of Israel other than what they see on the news, leading them to believe that its a country full of exploding bombs and the like. So here you go, a series of pics of Israel, showing different parts of it. Might post more later, but this should keep you interested for now;)

The Desert and Eilat
The Negev Desert, in the south of Israel (http://www.birdingisrael.com/birdsOfIsrael/images/einAvdat.jpg)
A Shoal of fishes in the Red Sea, by Eilat, Israels southern most point (http://www.divernet.com/travel/pics/elat1898.jpg)
Again in the Red Sea by Eilat (http://heyjude.eilatinter.co.il/IMAGES/REEF.JPG)
Dolphins in Eilat (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/IsraeliAirForcePilot/Israel/DolphinsReef.jpg)
The incredible fortress of Masada, back down in the desert. An incredible view from the top of it (http://207.67.138.201/IMOTroot/photos/masada%20pic.jpg)
This is the Desert again (http://www.amitravel.com/images/desert-hills.jpg)

Ein Gedi and the Dead Sea
This is Ein Gedi, an oasis in the desert, also used by the water company of the same name (http://www.scs.cs.nyu.edu/~mfreed/picts/Israel/Ein_Gedi-waterfall-cave.jpg)
The David Stream, or Nahal David, also in Ein Gedi (http://home.att.net/~bibarch/images/Ein-Gedi----Nahal-David-2.jpg)
You guessed it, Ein Gedi again, on the shore of the Dead Sea (http://www.vanerp.net/peter/israel/images/Ein%20Gedi%201.jpg)
A really lovely place, and with lots of wildlife, this pic of the two animals (not sure what they are) is again near Ein Gedi (http://www.trekker.co.il/israel/i-ein-gedi-04.jpg)

Haifa and the surrounding area
This is Bet She'an, one of two big amphitheatres in Israel, situated near Haifa (http://www.jafi.org.il/geo/betshean/bs4.jpg)
This is in the Carmel Mountains, a natural arch formed there (http://www.jle.org/photogallery/israel%20experience/carmel%20mountains%20adamit%20park%20natural%20arch.JPG)
The Bah'ai Temple, the base of the Bah'ai Cult. In Haifa, situated on the top of the Carmel Hills, overlooking the city (http://www.imagenesdeisrael.com/modules/My_eGallery/gallery/Imagenes_de_Haifa/jardines%20bahai%20haifa%20israel2.jpg)
This is a view of Haifa, and the bay (http://www.nikolsky.name/6/haifa_16_2_sm_170.jpg)
The Bah'ai Temple at night, a really beautiful picture. (http://www.nikolsky.name/2/bahai_2_8_1_sm.jpg)
Yoqne'am, a village in the North, just south of Haifa (http://www.nikolsky.name/5/pan2_1_cyl_cut_4_sm.jpg)

The Jordan and Kineret
And here it is, the Jordan River, Israel's largest, and also a convenient border line between Israel and Jordan. The Jordan has three tributaries.... (http://www.jle.org/photogallery/israel%20experience/jordan%20river.JPG)
...The Banyas.... (http://www.pattybrdarphoto.com/ISRAEL/1012BanyasLarge.jpg)
...The Hatsbani.... (http://www.israelimages.com/medium/hi17-015.jpg)
....And the Dan, the largest of the three (http://www.our-trips.com/chris-annette/israel/c0000415_wp.jpg)
Israel's source of water, the Kineret Lake, situated in the north (http://69.73.146.203/~thequiet/kineret1.jpg)
This is Tiberias, on the shore of the Kineret (http://www2.yarden.ac.il/p2keb/2bshvat/images/Tiberias_view.jpg)

Jerusalem
This is the way to Jerusalem, or at least, one of them. (http://www.shalomgemeente.nl/images/Web%20foto's/Road%20to%20Jerusalem2.jpg)
The formidable walls of Jerusalem (http://www.jabberwocky.com/photo/pcd1150/walls-of-jerusalem.jpg)
The Hills near Jerusalem (http://www.goehner.com/israel/isjudeanhillz.jpg)

Other
Look through, this is a gallery of pics from Ramat Hanadiv, Israel's biggest park. Its got a Nature reserve and a park there, and is funded by the Rothschild family (http://www.ramat-hanadiv.org.il/lobby.aspx?boneId=347)
This is the Hermon Mount, the tallest mountain in Israel, in the very north, covered by snow in the winters. In the summer, the snow melts and the Jordan River fills up (http://www.bibleplaces.com/images/Mount_Hermon_covered_with_snow_98-13tb_wr.jpg)
The Azraeli Towers in Tel Aviv, view taken from the small tower showing the big towers next to it. There are three towers, a circular, a triangular one, and a square one (http://www.nikolsky.name/3/azr1_8_sm.jpg)
Yes, I put this in for a joke, this is Dimona...... (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/spiesfly/images/phot_2000_dimona.jpg)
The Bah'ai Gardens in Akko, or Acre (http://www.nikolsky.name/9/bahai_1_8_sm.jpg)
Gamla (http://www.nikolsky.name/6/pan5_8_4_6_3_sm.jpg)
Caesarea, ancient Roman port, has survived Crusaders, Ottomans, Israeli's (no mean feat:p) and others. The amphitheatre is one of two complete ones in the country, Bet She'an being the other one (http://www.bibleplaces.com/images/Caesarea_theater_tb_n011300.jpg)

Hope you like this quick tour of Israel, if I ever get bored again, I'll sort it neatly and maybe add some more pictures in. Enjoy :)

Regardless of where they were found, they're still really nice. Too many people see Israel as this war torn country and forget that it's really quite beautiful

The pictures are very pretty. :D
I don't see much of Israel, and what I hear about tends to mostly be the movement in the Gaza strip and parts of the West Bank, lately.

((note: this is not my user))

Very nice. Indeed a beautifull country, so sad it is ruined by war and terrorism.

*mutters*
Check the first line, I said it hasn't been ruined by war and terrorism, its probably safer here than Britain. Serial killers, rapists, non-political murderers of any kind, are very rare here, unlike Britain.

Some more pics to add:

A view from the Gilboa mountain (http://www.nikolsky.name/11/gil_10_9_sm.jpg)

Another view from the Gilboa mountain (http://www.nikolsky.name/11/gilb_11_8_sm.jpg)

Independence Day celebrations in Haifa (http://www.nikolsky.name/10/fireworks1_8_flat_sm.jpg)

Ruins of castle Belvoir near Kohav ha-Yarden (http://www.nikolsky.name/10/belv1_8_sm.jpg)

Tel-Aviv and Ramat Gan ( http://www.nikolsky.name/3/azr3_8_sm.jpg) The tower you see here is Tower 100, the tallest building in Tel-Aviv (100 floors). I live right across the street from it.

Ancient Roman port of Caesaria (http://www.nikolsky.name/2/old_8_1_sm.jpg)

Jerusalem in snow (http://www.wisdom.weizmann.ac.il/~deniss/Personal/Photo/images/small/2003-02-25_Dozhd_Grad_Sneg_v_Israele/2003-02-26_Jerusalem_snow_TempleMount.jpg).

Sunruse at Masada (http://web.syr.edu/~adweinga/79710022_masada_sunrise.jpg). Because of the Dead Sea's vapours in the air, sunrises and sunsets in the area are probably the most amazing in the world. Unbelievably rich colours.
