A Warning for the World
I'm using a computer with an internet connection that scrambles the IP address. Hopefully I can get away with this.
Many people see images of Americans on TV with new clothes, washed skin, fancy cars, and all kinds of neat little luxuries. Those same images are broadcasted to us Americans as well.
They aren't true. We Americans live in poverty, under the constant surveillance of our government. There really aren't political parties here---Republicans and Democrats are a myth. There is only the government. It is likely that Bush does not exist. In any case, we are not free at all. Our Constitution, something I have only seen online, is unheard of in America. We live in fear. I live in fear. Everyone is subject to random searches, and summary executions. There is no law, only order.
Edited: This is the second time I have been able to go online without the surveillance monitors activated. As far as I can tell, America suffers more in terms of rights than China, although our Press might be exaggerating how the Chinese bayonet foreigners and eat Caucasian children. If I was caught saying these words, I would be shot.
Edited: This is my third entry. The Department of Happiness has issued arrest warrants for thousands of teachers and professors. Apparently they were plotting to overthrow Bush. Watched their executions on the television. Rations were reduced today. Tomorrow they'll go up by 174%. I have noticed some people think I am making satire, or am I not in the right state of mind. I am in the right state of mind. You must reject all of you see of America: laughing, smart-ass fools with everything modern imaginable. We endure a miserable existence, and most end up processed.

Yeah, I mean the other day I actually had to serve my own gas, wtf America sucks. Seriously though...summary executions, where the hell do you live?

There are no summary executions in America. Don't try to use this as some lame method of turning illegal immigrants away. If you want to experience that sort of terror then I suggest you live in Zimbabwe with Mugabe!

I am seriously laughing my ass off.
Because summary executions exist in America, and people are beaten on the streets by riot control patrolmen, of course. Not because I was being facetious. Facetious is lethal here.

Doubleplus ungood, actually.
But it's pretty true. We and Brave New World are far better examples of authoritarian states. 1984 does encapsulate a couple of ideas well though, obviously Big Brother is one, and Goldstein is the other.
By the way, nice post there Drzhen. Having visited America on several occasions (on false pretences) I have observed the rampant fear and oppression, and indeed I faced numerous harsh penalties if I was not carrying my foreign scientist identification at all times. Do not fear. Europe and the UN are coming to your rescue!

Some people here need to stop overanalyzing things and see the joke it was very obviously meant to be.
On a side note: One of my friends was in Nashville Tennessee (or however that's spelled) and saw a massive concrete building with no windows at all. We immediatly dubbed it MiniLuv.
On another side note: anyone remember the Massive Right-Wing Conspiracy thread that was here a long time ago.
I wish we didn't have to live in fear, Begark. We suffer the most intolerable cruelty while our masters of this country enjoy the best of this life. Child labor was never abolished in this nation. And Elvis was a fascist in disguise. But our chocolate rations keep going up and up each week.

Consider these few quotes from Adolph Hitler.. See how close to the mark they hit. Then perhaps re-evaluate your stance.
*Tell a lie loud enough and long enough and people will believe it. -Adolph Hitler
*What luck for rulers that men do not think. - Adolf Hitler
*Strength lies not in defence but in attack. - Adolf Hitler
*The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one. - Adolf Hitler
*The great strength of the totalitarian state is that it forces those who fear it to imitate it. - Adolf Hitler
*The leader of genius must have the ability to make different opponents appear as if they belonged to one category. - Adolf Hitler
*The victor will never be asked if he told the truth. - Adolf Hitler
*Universal education is the most corroding and disintegrating poison that liberalism has ever invented for its own destruction. - Adolf Hitler
*When an opponent declares, "I will not come over to your side," I calmly say, "Your child belongs to us already... What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community." - Adolf Hitler
*Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live. - Adolf Hitler
*Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future. - Adolf Hitler
And from other sources:
*The Third Reich did not impose its will upon an unwilling, unreceptive public. Hitler rode into power on a groundswell of public opinion, fueled by law-and-order rhetoric and scare tactics, not unlike those being unleashed in our legislatures today. - Hunter S. Thompson
*It is the absolute right of the State to supervise the formation of public opinion. - Paul Joseph Goebbels
Hey lo! Another one!

when asked for classics in another thread everyone kept telling 1984 was a real classic. I'm sure most of those people had not even read the damn thing. Or if confusion and irrelevans to things makes a book qualify as a classic, then hell yes!
addition: ...and shouldn't this thread go under roleplay or something equally important?

That would be doubleplusungood. Expect to hear from the Department of Linguistic Integrity (speakwatch) for your abuse of newspeak.
Also, I am a little dubious of the accuracy of the first post here - I know at least one person who lives in the States (in person), and while she spoke of plans to move to Europe because "at least there the secret service is not allowed to kidnap and torture people they think are terrorists and drop them over the sea without ever informing anyone of their arrest", the rationing and the mass executions are probably a little exaggerated.
That said, I am frightened by how realistic it sounds. Give it a year.
From a dead man... Greetings!
