Is god trying to tell us something?

Every year the southern states in the US go through massive devasation from hurricanes, floods, torandos ,etc ... And they always rebuild however. My question is does god have a problem with the south? Is he trying to tell them something? If so why?

We're not the only place that suffers natural disasters (Btw, sorry but the hurricane didn't get me :D), I guess it could apply mostly anywhere...

Apparently, God doesn't like California (earthquakes) or the Midwest (tornados), either.
He REALLY hates India, too (monsoon season).

Actually, that was God giving a little relief to those counties...because that's where the eyes of the hurricaines went. ;)

Yeah. It's "Quit praising my name! I'm trying to sleep up here! Jesus, Christ, will you make them shut up? Every other f*cking word I hear is 'God' or 'Jesus' and they don't know the freaking half of it! Ugh..."
God's just grumpy after the Middle Ages, Buddhism, and the formation of Canada. It was really hard making the perfect nation.

I asked myself the same question when Pope John Paul (when he was still alive) was attacked by pigeons.
But yeah. If I was God, I'd piss on Florida too.
Still sore about losing in both 2000 and in 2004.
In 2000 the libs were close, in 2004 Bush got the mandate by getting the vast majority of voters.
The views of nonvoters, of course do not count because they have no impact on american internal or external policy.

Saying that God is trying to punish the South for conservative politics is no better than saying a gay man who gets Aids is being punished for being gay.

Here’s a tip for nonvoters if they want to be heard, VOTE!

What the heck are you rambling about?
This has nothing to do with the topic, let alone, is it accurate. Bush lost the majority vote, and won by electoral.
And nonvoters can express their views, they're either a) exercising their right to be jaded or protest or b) not qualified to vote in the first place due to various restrictions.

If god creates natural disasters against places he is mad at, then I would get worried, as, lucky you guys in California, atleest you're getting SMALL earthquaks, In BC we're due for a HUGE MAJOR earthquake within the next hundred years.

More like God was relieving himself on those counties.
They don't call it the "dirty south" for nothing.

As a friend of mine once put it, "If you get killed by a storm that you knew was coming for a week, you deserve to die. They should just name them all Hurricane Darwin."

Yeah. Like the restriction of not being allowed to vote if you're not a member of the country. :P If you don't listen to nonvoters gripe about how much conservative right wing America sucks, you're going to have to let the rest of the world have a say in who is president. I think an 80% Liberal Canadian vote would have swung the election...
Then Kerry would be in office... ;)

No, hurricanes are natural disasters. God is not natural.
Yeah, he splits seas, sends food falling from the sky, creates plagues, heals the sick, resurrects people, and strikes people with lightning...
But God is not natural.
There is nothing divine about the hurricanes that occur in the Caribbean region. It's a matter of understanding wind currents and temperature fronts.
After all, Bangladesh suffers monsoons every year, which kill tens of thousand of people, sometimes hundreds of thousands, and what could Bangladesh possibly be guilty of, leaving West Pakistan? Come on now, don't be so ignorant about the weather.

Disasters happen everywhere. What about the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami? Does God "hate" them more than the heads of conglomerates in New York? The obvious answer is "no".

Hey, according to the Christian leader, Jerry Falwell, 9\11 and the Tsunami happened because of gay people!
That's your own opinion Willamena. As with President_Shrubs. Just agree between you both that there is a God and drop the rest... wouldn't want to see this thread eaten up with anger posts. ;)

Well, he's not MY Christian leader. To me, he's an idiot who only knows how to pin labels to disaster-stricken victims. Were all those who died gay people? What an ***.

I suggest that we add a new poll item, so that it looks like this:
Does God have a problem with the South?
* Yes
* No
* Whats (sic) the south?
*What's God?
I happen to believe almost exactly what you said Willamena. But it isn't truth. It's our own personal belief.

What if the hurricane is just atmospheric activity, and nothing else?
Hurricanes occour is all sorts of places, and not just the USA. There's one forming that will probably hit the domican republic and cuba. However, hurricanes also form in the bay of Bengal, Australia and the pacific.

God must dislike South Eastern Asia too with the Tsunami. Or maybe he's just pissed at the human race that's why there's global warming too.
