Hey - which browser do you use, and why do you prefer it to others?

Methinks this could do with a poll. -edit- and now there is one

Firefox. Tabbed Browsing is the greatest thing ever. You'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Tabbed browsing is indeed a rather nice thing to have :)

FireFox for the simplicity in updating, expanding, customizing and navigating. Also, since it is not as heavily targeted as IE there really are fewer security issues. There are some really great little plug ins you can get or even create for it with tiny little footprints!

Firefox... just runs faster. I was amazed the other day to have to use IE on a friend's machine, a top-end Windows machine, and... IE was just... slow. Slow to load, open pages, it was just... intolerable. Firefox = teh winnar. Which is why it took 10% of the market in the first eight months of release.

You left out Safari :P

There's no real choice, Firefox and Opera have the best security and features, it's fact not opinion. IE is a joke at the minute it needs a major overhaul. And in fact, not one of the major browsers is 100% standards compliant, and it's 2005, that's not good.

Firefox.

Mainly because IE was murdered on my P.C by Firefox.

I would love Firefox, but it insists on not displaying stuff right like animations or games.

I have seen that happen on occasion and from what I have been told it is due primairly to older versions of media creation software designed strictly with IE in mind. Subtle incompatabilities microsoft uses to sabatoge their competition.

I use Safari (Apple's browser) on Macs and (usually) IE on Windows.

Konqueror. Only thing is that a few sites have some problems with borders (Jolt included...)

I also use Firefox and Opera occaisonally...

Umm...your poll is inherently flawed.

Every good statician knows that every questionaire should have-

1) Other

2) Don't know

3) None

In my case, I pick the last option.

Bet you're confused now...

I'm not.

You are obviously an AI program stalking the Internet, and therefore have no need of a browser.

Firefox, it's a lot smoother than IE. And a lot more friendly to the eyes.

And people quit harassing me for using IE.

I have no problems with Firefox. I see everything like I did in IE. Sometimes better.

AND I have this GREAT extension that allows me to remove ANY object from the internet site so I don't have to see it.

NS comments that piss me off? Away! Goatse traps that are loading, remove away! Mods? AWAY AWAY AWAY!!!!!1 :D

Seriously, it's a great extension. You'll never know when it'll be useful.

just started using a knoppix CD with Konquerer and it really screams (but then so does Firefox under Linux)
Gonna do a dual install when I've got the drive space.

On another related issue. I just switched from outlook to Thunderbird and the way it handles junk mail is excellent. No longer will I be plagued by constant demands to increase the size of my pen!s/pen1s/p3nis ect ect ect (except by my wife of course :D )

Well - OK. These are good points. I'll stick with Mozilla for now, until I see a radical quantitative/qualitative difference. And, perhaps, when they switch to a moniker that looks a bit less like a fox doing something rude to a racket ball. :(

I actually meant the telnet program that comes with windows and goes by the same name. You could use that to browse if you wanted to. It just wouldn't be very fun.

Not a chance safari has major issues with both java and flash based menu bar formatting and is exceptionly anal in some of the code nessisary

HEY PEOPLE! TABBED BROWSING IS NOT SPECIAL ANYMORE! I mean, now that IE has it its no big deal.

What do I use? Opera. Fastest, slimmer than Fire Fox, just better all around. I wish more people would use it... Unfortunatley Fire Fox has a sugar daddy (Fire Fox foundation) so they dont have to worry about cash like Opera does... :(

Meaning you made it sound like they did something new in that field rather then copy others work (not saying that is a bad thing but firefox was not the revolutionary one with that feature)

I used to use IE a loooooong time ago, the only reason it is good is because stuff is written for it. Otherwise, meh. Then when Safari came out, I used that because of tabbed browsing and stuff. But some stuff doesn't work on it, although it is a decent browser. Now I use Firefox, which has the pluses of Safari without the minuses. Not to mention extentions and themes! Woot! Just a great browser for anyone because it is so customizeable.

Unfortunately, it refuses to open images that are not in mode, and sometimes even those fail. However, it's personalized to block the pop-ups I don't want, but show those which will be interesting to me (I programmed in my own personality, lol). If I ever wish to become un-addicted to NS, all I have to do is write in a block on nationstates.net and all affiliated sites, and there you are.
