Forgeries and Propaganda in National Archives

Forenote: I want to see where this has been done in the Library of Congress too.

In a sobering lesson we see again that Truth is not a concrete and fixed thing. At least, what people believe to be truth is subject to corruption and debate.

QUOTE : One of Britain's leading historians has called for a criminal investigation into the "contamination" of The National Archives after The Daily Telegraph showed that forged documents had been smuggled into files in the building.

Andrew Roberts, a biographer of Winston Churchill, said: "There must be prosecutions. The police must go through all the evidence and find out who has done this and prosecute with the full weight of the law." : QUOTE

It is the belief of the youngest and future generations that make this so awful. Such lies become Truth in the decades ahead. After all, Edgar Allen Poe's most known description was written by a man who hated him.

QUOTE: "There could be a series of ticking time-bombs in our archives and historians in the future might not have the same knowledge as we do now to recognise bogus documents. :QUOTE

It is now no wonder that cognitive dissonance has equal respect with honest investigation. The human species is simply not capable of realizing the truth in its whole.

I would pretty much count on there being lots of lies in the US libraries. One of the necessary components of revolution is excessive propaganda and the canonization of the leaders of such a movement.

With all the questionable things the US has done in the past I would not be surprised if information was changed, added or eliminated from archives to hide or justify its actions.

The CIA has done this with programs deemed too contriversial or embarrassing, like MKULTRA. There's nothing stopping other parts of the government from doing the same.

Yes without a doubt there is much of in the US National Archives. Was it not Clintons former national security adivsor who was caught stealing and or tampering with those documents? Socialists are famous for these sort of manipulations. On a smaller scale, there was Hillary Clinton having presidential portrats painted over to hide Teddy Roosevelt's cigarette.
The CIA would have little ability to do such things as they alter the truth before documents are archived. Only at the higest levels (Congress and Executive Branch do they get tampered with after the fact)
The re-writing of history is a little addressed but all too common form of treason in my own opinion, but it's probably the most common form of legacy building there is in existence.

Could you make the slander of leftists/democrats/not yoru side of the debate a little more subtle?

I probably got the wrong word, would libel make you feel better? Have you nothing better to do than be elitist about specific words used on a general forum on the internet?

Yeah, I'm an elitist just like Vietnam Vet John F Kerry, who is also a Senator. Slander is spoken, libel is written for one. Anyhoo, I've noticed that alot of posters on here like to use that word recently. Not only is it stupid, but it's funny. Public figures have a "harder road to toll" than the average person since they must prove that the party defaming them knew the statements were false, made them with actual malice, or was negligent in saying or writing them. Proving these elements makes the chance of a successful lawsuit slim.

Yes I have plenty of other things to do, but when you and people like CSW use the term "slander" in your retort to a post, I'm going to call you out on it. Besides, it just makes you look less intelligent.

now thats a funny post

while you talk about the difference between slander and libel you take a quote off the net and pass it off as your own.

i looked up "harder road to toll". i have never heard that phrase before, i think the original writer paraphrased the more common "harder row to hoe". but anyway the only incidence of it that came up on google was 6 citations of the same exact stuff you just put up.

funny that.

I corrected it, happy?

Because that particular poster, and obviously you as well, was replying to a topic, that was thus far unpartisan, and instead of actually going along with the topic went out of his way to purposefully attack the liberals without cause or reason. You know what makes people look less intelligent? Playing the game of "attack liberals in every post I make"

Yes, how ironic. Being that I'm an "elitist" and all, I guess I just took lessons from Biden.

Yes, but as you said this is an internet forum, thus it is illogical for you to get upset enough over some comment to make a claim of slander (or any other type of defamation of character).

We do need more "reality" based comedies anyway. I hope that would turn out along the lines of Gary Hart.

Which would be a sad insult, he went out of his way to name the whoever of bill clinton who took the copies of some information of others then went out of his way to libel "socialists," which most of these rightwing nutters take to mean the leftwing. Defamation
