There seem to be quite a few of these introduction thingies, and even though I'm not exactly "new," I figured, why not?
I live in Rockville MD, about 20 min out of DC. I like Punk, some metal, classic rock, opera, classical, whatever sounds good. Right now my favorite album is The Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, my favorite band either the Dead Kennedys or Bad Religion.
I am a Greek Orthodox Christain, but if you've seen any of my posts on any of the religious threads, you know that I am not exactly a steriotypical Christain, although I am fericly proud of my religious devotion in an world increasingly hostile to religious types.
Politically I don't like to lable my self. I am socially libertarian, I believe that you should have the right to do whatever you want, so long as it does not hurt someone else. This extends to economic freedom, and I believe that small business should not be regulated all that much, aside from protecting workers and the like, but bigger corperations, as they have more influence in society and effect more people. should have more regulation.
I believe in each person's right to live their life as they see fit, and to find the truth for themselves.
I believe that science, religion, math, phylosophy is all the search for the truth, just different methods for getting there, and all are important in balance.
I believe concepts like "honor" "pride" "honesty" and "dignity" are more than just buzzwords.
I am an Eagle Scout, a Black Belt, and and anti-American
I like pleasure spiked with pain, and music is my air-o-plane
I am a crappy drummer.
I love Jennifer Burke (daughter of the head of the Secret Service training school, ironicly enough)
I attempt to avoid large corperations as much a possible, prefering, instead, to support local small business.
I have ran from police at protests, and have almost been arrested for my convictions.
I will soon be comming to Europe for an indetermined amount of time with a friend of mine, and we will travel and live however we can for a few months. Sleeping in hostels, bus depots, wherevere, living cheeply, seeing the sites. When I come back, I will attend either Goucher or St. John's college. What I wanna do with my life is either be a high school Social Studies teacher, work with a non-profit group as a career, or move to South America and become a revolutionary ^_^
I plan to do a tour in the Peace Corps with my girlfriend when we graduate college.
So, good to meet you all, and any impressions of me from folks who have seen my other posts?
