progressive tax = wealth redistribution = good imho.

Seeing as this thread no longer appears to be being used for official debate for MPs, may I butt in to ask a question?

Why is it that if your progressive-income-tax proposal gets voted down, it immediatly reverts to a flat income tax system? I don't believe we have an official income tax system as of yet, and I would think some people from the NSCLs might suppport the 'Fair Tax' idea with only taxes for consumption. It's not quite a binary system, so I can't understand why you are making it revert to another option as though it were one.

Sure. I just think it's stupid when people vote against a proposal in the proposal stage because they disagree with it. We should still debate the issue; so I give some incentive for the people most likely to disagree. I'm welcome to comments and suggestions, however.
