Was this your celebrated Summer?

Almost three months into "summer", I have to ask... Is anybody else having a bad time?

I've pretty much stopped looking forward to Summer for the past... Six years. Year after year, it's been shit. I haven't had a real "summer" since 1996, and that's a long time. I can safely say that such a crappy time was to be expected...

...So, how about the rest of you...?

I didn't expect this to turn into a comedy thread.

I live in Germany. We have to import summer weather from hot, sunny places, and since tectonic plate movements take so long, Germans travel...

I'm just saying, all my best summers (before I met my wife) consisted of a good summer romance. It's a lot of fun and it's exciting.

It's the middle of winter here, so.....

My footy team ( http://collingwoodfc.com.au/ ) are not having a particularly great season, so that's a bit of a downer. Apart from that, things aren't looking too bad. I'll be holidaying in France for the entire month of September, so I'm pretty fired up about that.

pretty much same here - haven't had a proper "summer" summmer since about 98 or 99, back in 3rd or 4th year of school. since then i've always looked forward to summer all year but been generally disappointed :(
with the exception of 2002 that is, when my dad and i travelled to california for 2 weeks :)

i don't know exactly what it is thats disappointing though

I had a great summer. I took a break from my activities and volunteer work, have taken some days off work to go on various trips, including a big one to Holland, have spent a lot of time in the pool, and have generally enjoyed it.

Nope, I can safely say that so far, this summer has been shite. Operation on the morning after school ended, meaning no leaving the house for one week, no sport for three weeks, and worst of all, no karting for two months.

Other than that, I'm *finally* going back to England, albeit for a month. (yes, I'm only allowed to go-kart eight weeks after, but I'm allowed to fly one month after, go figure ). But that should be fun hopefully. So, mixed summer, more downs than ups though. :(

EDIT: Oh yeah, and its 35C here every day, and I'm not allowed near water for about three or four months.

My summer should be better. I'm 18 and free for 3 months however I feel lacking purpose. I have nothing to do! I'm going to eat cheese...

Honestly? I prefer school.

At least there I have all my friends to hang out with and have a great time, and all the girls to stare at. Even the teachers are amusing.

At home, none of my friends live around me. At home, my parents are going through a divorce. My brother slowly kills me. And only the internet could give me a laugh. Which is why I'm on a lot this summer.

Fortunately, water polo practice begins in 8 days. 6-8:30 a.m. and 4-6 p.m practices. I look forward to actual workouts and joking with friends again.

'Tis much the same here, except I haven't been to a public school since 1997. That said, I haven't had any new friends (well, that I've met in person) in eight years... And, the last friend I had isn't even allowed to see me anymore (thanks a lot for jumping to conclusions, dad). I stay in the house pretty much all day, every day of the year, so it's no wonder my post count's gotten where it is in such a short span of time.

I'm hoping next year's summer will be different, as I'm supposed to be moving and going to a public high school. Hey, I can hope, can't I?

You kids need to go out and get a job. Summers don't mean jack shit when you have a family to support. :(

Heh, my vinyl rips always seem to cheer me up... One, in particular. It's a true classic, and indeed one of the best albums ever recorded: Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols.

No matter how many times I listen to it, I never get tired of it. I didn't expect it to brighten my day as much as it has (I felt like sleeping the day away, I was so bored and depressed).

I'll say this: I'm glad I have things to hold me over.

Nope, but apparently my ear doesn't like water when its not completely sealed ;)
Same for ridiculously loud noises.
