The U.S. flag code states that to dispose of a beat-up, you must get rid of it in a dignified way, preferably by burning. And since flag-burning is about to become illegal, what is a proper way to dispose of the American Flag? Burying it?

Aw, crap. Someone delete "Disposal of the Flag." That was my browser's fault.

Drop it in some mud, stomp it about three dozen times, repeat. After that, you tear it to shreds ever so slowly... Then, you sprinkle gasoline (or some lighter fluid) on the shreds, and toss a match in.

Seriously, this "caring for the flag" is truly a load of bullshit... Come on, people. It's CLOTH.

Oh yeah, turning it into toilet paper wouldn't be a bad idea, either (just make sure your toilet doesn't clog easily).

There is a difference between burning a flag in a dignified manner and an undignified manner. As far as I know, you should ask a relevant institution what to do if you want to retire a flag.

Not sure which thread I should be posting in, so to repeat:

I don't understand why someone burning a flag is so threatening. I understand that it's a symbol of a nation, but that's all it is, a symbol. Why the need to legislate against it. It's hardly going to bring down your nation.

Flag burning is not illegal. Flag desecration may be criminalized.

Burning a flag that is too worn and old for display is not desecration. Quite the contrary, you prevent it from ending in a pile of garbage, which would be desecration. But, burn a flag publicly to express something, that's desecration.

Actually, the way to properly dispose of a flag would be cutting it along the sews, then burn the parts.

What? The U.S. Government has outlawed flag-burning now?
Fucking hell, that will that draconian legislation about adult websites and you have yourself a nice little Big Brother scenario.
I think the U.S. Government should have more control over American nutters in the bible belt and such, but it seems it's the bible belt nutters that are in power and the normal people who are being controlled unnecessarily.
