I just got back from going to see the new Fantastic 4 movie. It was Great. Not Outstanding, but great - They did the right thing and focused on the characters and not the special effects or the superpowers. Johnny Storm comes across as the smartass, "to cool for school" character he is supposed to be. The Thing is perfectly done as the tragic, reluctant hero. Sue Storm is hot and plays her character exceptionally well. Mr. Fantastic was well done too as the super genius with no social skills at all - a grown up nerd, still afraid of girls. It wasn't as good as spiderman, but it beat the hell out of the Hulk. I see promise for a 2nd movie that could be a brilliant piece of work (like Star Trek II being better than the 1st movie and Superman 2 being better than the first one - FF 1 was great, FF 2 has the potential to be "Fantastic" [pun intended])

I highly reccomend it - it was great fun!

It's funny you should say that. The film has got really bad reviews here, pretty much saying the opposite. The makers have concentrated on special effects and ignored the plot & character development.

Jessica Alba is fucking hot.

That's all I have to say on the subject.

The plot was not all that great, but character development was good. They should have skipped the "origin" story line and just jumped right in with the last 2/3 of the movie and let the origin be revealed in short "flashbacks" (sort of like Tim Burton's original Batman movie - it starts with Batman being Batman and you learn as the movie progresses how he got that way).
Special effects were good, but I did not walk away thinking they were the focus of the movie at all. I enjoyed it.

Whatever. I saw it and was wanting to leave midway through the movie. However the high amount of theatre admissions for such a crappy movie would have made leaving feel like I've just been mugged.

The acting is bad. The characters are STILL bad and poorly done. The story is non-existant, and in general there is no real motive for the story to move along on. Marvel needs to end the F4 franchise. There is no reason to continue trying to tell the story such a crappy gang of lameos.

My recommendation, save your money and see The Incredibles again. Its everything the F4 movie WANTED to be, but wasn't.

I'm sorry, but Jessica Alba cannot act.

From what you're telling me, Fox has essentially spat in the face of what the Fantastic Four is supposed to be about.

I've heard they're putting a hold on Silver Surfer, as they're considering the Surfer/Galactus story for an FF sequel - which would kinda bite, IMO. Let the FF fight the Skrulls, or something.

I've heard Vin Diesel is quite keen to play Norrin Radd in a standalone Surfer flick. I think he'd be perfect.
